Football fascist, Herr Blatter is determined to switch the 2022 World Cup to the winter because of the intense Qatar summer heat. He says," We still have enough time" and "The World Cup must be a festival of the people. But for it to be such a festival, you can't play football in the summer ". He then went on " You can cool down the stadiums but you can't cool down the whole country and you can't simply cool down the ambience of a World Cup. The players must be able to play in the best conditions to play a good World Cup."

I think the man is a total prat, he is totally out of touch with modern times and should have got the boot eons ago, anyway read the Blatter waffle and twaddle in the attached article and I hope you find it interesting...

It's been said ad-infinitum by so many people since the decision was made to award 2022 to Qatar - but this is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. It's politics and money talking, not sport. The bids were made on the basis of a SUMMER World Cup, as always. You can't award it to Qatar, saying their bid (which included cooled stadia specifically to safeguard the safety of players and fans) was the best, and later turn round and say that you can't hold a WC in the Middle East in the summer due to the extreme heat so lets hold it in the winter instead. If they can't now host it to the specs of their bid, they should withdraw. And FIFA should have made it clear before bidding started if they only wanted "new markets" to bid or if the timing was to be changed.

No doubt the odious Blatter will eventually get his own way, but like so much in FIFA in recent years, it stinks and it just goes on stinking. I'd hope England don't qualify for 2022 or withdraw from it in protest at the farce in awarding it to Qatar. Its a total joke and I'd sooner we just weren't there.

Why is he still in power. We invented the ****ing game so of we want it we shouldn't have to apply for it. TOP TRUMP

If its too hot in the summer to play then we shouldn't be going there full stop

So which continent will get the 2026 World Cup if Blatter has anything to do with it? Antarctica?

Blatter is a total embarassment, as is Platini, as was Havelange. Unfortunately I dont hold the FA in any higher respect

The people in power that run football around the world and at home are totally clueless, money grabbing, out of touch, power mad, w@nkers

Qatar won the bid on the basis of a summer world cup.

If it is switched to winter then they should have to re-bid.

If they persist down the path of a winter world cup I can see the powerfull clubs forming a breakaway

I suppose Blatter could do more to split the football world but off hand it's difficult to see what FIFA is a joke and has been for years it is a cartel run by a few people for themselves nothing to do with football. Plus the levels of vote buying for this last decision for the World Cups must have hit a new high all the votes promised to England and Russia(I think it was) disappeared faster than an icecream in a middle eastern summer, after the FIFA reps got their 'pressies' from Qatar. Blatters antics are handing professional football to Rupert Murdoch on a silver 'Platterini' with a note saying help yourself.

The World Cup should have been awarded to America. When they hosted it, it was the most profitable World Cup ever. Also, they've got the infrastructure, and it'd be a great place to visit for a World Cup.

I would have preferred Australia to get it, but their bid was an absolute joke, and mainly as a way for them to build more Aussie-rules football stadiums.

It's worth bearing in mind that we've got another NINE years of bitching about this very topic. I love international football, and club football can never truly replace its unifying effect on our countries, but FIFA is no longer the ideal spokesperson for it.

I'm quite the opposite and I wouldnt go down to the bottom of my own garden to watch England or anyone else play.

Our players are technically many years behind every other major footballing country as has been painfully portrayed by the abject and dismal failings of 'The Golden Generation' who frankly (Steven Gerrard aside) weren't fit to lick the boots of the England squads at Euro '96, Italia '90 or England '66

The English media are partly, but not wholly, to blame for setting unrealistic expectations before tournaments which we wouldn't win if we had 22 players instead of 11

FIFA is no longer fit for purpose and should be replaced by a truly representative organisation.

Blatter and his cohort are corrupt and incompetent. Awarding the World Cup to Qatar in the summer is total lunacy. Might as well award the Cricket World Cup to Iceland in the winter.

'I'm quite the opposite and I wouldnt go down to the bottom of my own garden to watch England or anyone else play' -
Spot on AND I close the curtains.

I'd go a lot further though.
When Russia got the World Cup, let alone Qatar I'd of pulled us out of all International Football.
    Who fuc***g cares.

Until you confront the crooked bu**ers they won't change.
    F**k um.

The only reasonable thing for the FA to do is to boycott the World Cup and to make alternative arrangements.

There are around three or four associations (England, Germany, USA and perhaps Holland?) who were strongly opposed to the Qatar bid, especially the idea of moving the domestic footballing calendar to compensate for FIFA and UEFA's crooked deals with the Qatar royal family and Barcelona/PSG. I reckon each of these teams would be willing to boycott the competition (or at least send a fringe team) and to set up a one-off summer tournament where all proceeds go to charity.

It would be a good money-spinner for TV channels, and it'd be good to lay down a challenge to the World Cup. A hugely successful summer tournament followed by a poor winter World Cup would be enough to show the world that FIFA and UEFA aren't managing football as well as they should be.

Over here, those of us that follow the beautiful game were shocked that the USA lost out and even more so when it was handed to Qatar. I understand FIFA wanting to spread the game but to award it to a nation the size of Birmingham with no current infrastructure and ridiculous temperatures was simply astonishing. This was purely about money and Zindane and other cronies will have pocketed cash at the expense of football.

Who on earth is going to want to go to Qatar for a footy tournament?

I truly hope that the nations unite and say "enough is enough".....this is a summer tournament and it needs to be hosted in a place where both players and fans are safe. Players may die in Qatar. It's ridiculous.

The USA could step in at a moment's notice to host this, as could England or many other nations.

As an aside, the biggest sporting event in the US calendar, the Superbowl, is held in February and is only ever held in warm states or those that have dome stadiums. The NFL is smart enough to realiuze that playing a major sporting event in winter in Green Bay, Buffalo or Chicago is simply idiotic. FIFA should take note.

    Blatter - moden day Hitler.

Probably, no definitely, the worst ever venue for the World cup and don't tell me that someone's palm wasn't greased on this one. Corruption is alive and well in the universal sport of football and how we haven't got the World Cup since 1966 beggars belief.
