Whilst I am optimistic for the up coming season. Our new scouting system and DoF, These people are used to scouting for Italian football. Not the Premier league. SO how much our scouts understand the players they are selecting fit the Premier type player. Massive gamble? The REAL gamble is if Di Canio fails and is sacked the next manager faces a massive challenge. The club could be tits up. So we are playing high stakes here. So is Di Canio the man as we appear all in. I cannot give Short more praise for giving it a go though. We've tried the old tested merry go round of old name managers. That we are trying something different is to be applauded. It may not work but I think the majority of us acknowledge that this is high risk but we might, just might push on.
nothing we can do but wait marra please log in to view this image joking aside, my honest belief is that this is about to be the best thing that has ever happened to us, i have my concerns about pdc and his rule with the iron fist approach, but also remember how welcome this was from all sides. all we can do is take it on the chin, whatever it is, hope its a KO from us.
We're the most watched league in the world and these guys will know football beyond the italian league. I'm not too worried.
He won't need to rule with an iron fist if the players coming in know what to expect. I'm pretty sure he's only targeting players that are coming here to graft, hence no conflict. Chill and go with flow marra
I think Di Canio is the real deal. I love his passion and how he acknowledges the history of the club, and pride in the red and white shirt.
best thing to have happened to us in a long time . I'm really looking forward to this season and finally kick on and be an internationally know team
This is important. The main reason there was so much of a gan on when he arrived is the shock to the systems of lazy buggers who were allowed to get away with it. I have no idea at all of the set ups of the clubs they`re coming from. It may be no change for them. I would suggest attitude will have been taken into consideration and the expectations fully explained. It should be no surprise. PDC knows what he wants, the players know what he wants & Short is backing him all the way. Obviously there is some trepidation as to whether the thing will work but in nearly 60 years of support I can`t remember a buzz like this.
Regardless of the changes made to the club all praise should be given to Ellis Short for the efforts he has made to lift the club from the start. He has stood by three managers and provided the funding they asked for. The previous managerial appointments were probably made on the recommendation of NQ and once the direction became apparent under MON it appears he gently moved NQ out and planned the revolution we are all embracing. Can only guess if PDC was meant to take place when it did but I am reasonably confident MON would have gone at season's even if he kept us up. When the season kicks off the chant around the SOL should be for ES and no-one else until the game gets underway. Just hopes the season sees us taking off like a rocket.
