First, what a good night of football. A few beers, chattin' with the opposition, no fouls or swearing, everyone smiling, nice weather - sod that freezing winter football ****. Thanks to the Spurs fans for filling the ground. Thanks for being friendly and sporting. I was sat with two mates either side, and Spurs fans two rows above and below. It was strange to see so many Spurs' shirts in the Swindon sections. One Spurs fan filled me in with the names of our loans - fair play matey. Alex Pritchard. He's a bit a of a good player, isn't he? Best Swindon player on the pitch by far. Took a cracking freekick that hit the post. Found space all the time. Bale was his normal beast-self. Looked really fit. Was taken off for the second half and joked around with the rest of the team when he came back to the bench. Nice. Lennon looked fit too. Took an active roll in the team. He's up for it. Defoe looked sharp. Walker in the flesh is faster than he looks on TV. Everyone looked good and had a good game, except Rose. Rose didn't get into the game. I didn't see Adebayor, Kaboul, or Sandro. Spurs' fans in the Country Ground Hotel before the game. Brave? Definitely funny. Friendly by name, friendly by nature:
Only 1400 at Swindon last night when they played against Birmingham City. Trialling for Swindon in that game was a former Youth player of ours, Yasir Kasem. Not sure where he's been recently, but he joined Brighton after he was released by Spurs. Swindon are now off to a training camp in Portugal where they are due to play a game against the Spurs development squad who are also off to Portugal.
Yet another of our players is expected to join the ranks at Swindon. It looks as if Ryan Mason will agree to going there on a season long loan deal.
They're even going on holiday with Spurs! We should be careful, B teams aren't allowed in England are they?
Who's paying their wages? Swindon just lost Flint and Cormack, who were on £6k and £8k a week, because they cannot afford to pay the wages since our last chairman left. Strong rumours say he was using the club to clean his money and that's the only reason wages were being paid. It's no secret that Swindon were a day away from administration and hence the reason our best player, Matt Richie, was sold in the last window. Not only are Spurs fielding their B-team at Swindon, it seems only logical that Spurs are paying for it as well. (So confusing writing these posts when "we" and "our team" get mixed up.)
Knowing you as a Spurs fan, it is very confusing when you are saying "we" and not meaning Spurs. Spurm's dry response tickled me. That's all.
