I am utterly opposed to Welsh teams playing in the ENGLISH leagues. After all The Welsh Premier League won't admit English clubs!

Swansea , Cardiff , Wrexham , Newport , Merthyr Tydfil and Colwyn Bay should be FORCED to play in their own country's league.

That is the only way Welsh football is going to improve.

FIFA should put a stop to it NOW!!

I don't mind the Welsh teams being in the league, I live in England but Cardiff is closer and quicker to get to than West Ham for me, so location makes no difference and if these teams were in a Welsh league then it would end up like up in Scotland where two teams are at the top all the time and would become boring.

It does seem silly that the Welsh leagues get European slots when the best teams don't even play in the league, but that has nothing to do with the teams you mention above.

It really won't improve Welsh football. If no top players want to play for Swansea or Cardiff the money will dry up and the youth development will dissapear.

Cardiff have an Academy and Swansea probably will if they get into the PL so this will help Welsh football.

Here, here. On the one hand they have Cardiff, Swansea etc in our Engloish league yet maintain their league cup and national association. Its the national team that grates me - especially when Giggs decided to play for Wales having been an England junior. If Welsh "top" teams want to play in our league then stop kiss goodbye to your national team. USA, Japan, South Korea, Australia - just a handle of exmaples of teams who have played in more World Cups than Wales. If Wales had been a world force then we could accept this anomoly, but does the world really need another minnow whose teams play in a foreign league?

You lot are a ****ing joke!

Swansea and Cardiff were invited to the so called "English" league, so we are here on merit! Both clubs have been in the "English" leagues longer than some English clubs have existed. The fact you hate us in "your" leagues is because we are blatantly better than 50+ of your teams! You don't moan about Welsh players playing in your league, nor Welsh players playing in the "English" cricket team!.

We are far to good for the Welsh Premier league and it would just be another SPL! By the way, know as the Scottish Premier League. Not like the Premier League (No English there is there?).

So, I think you all need to grow the hell up and get used to the fact that there is a WELSH club in the PREMIER LEAGUE!!!!

    Typical patriotic ****ers!

Nuff said! Thanks to all that actually stuck up for us!

Ryan Giggs played for Wales because he was born in Wales of Welsh parents. He was not eligible to play for any other country. The reason he played for England schoolboys is because he went to school in England

Turns out the Welsh FA didn't back the FA against FIFA - even more fuel to the fire against having Welsh sides in English leagues.

Ryan Giggs - greatest player ever to grace the Premier League.
Gareth Bale - currently best player in the Premier League.

Just get your money out and pay the toll to get in to Wales crossing the bridge, its free to get in to England!

JackAsh: You should stop using quotation marks as a tool for arguing. They make you look like an single minded idiot.

Its the type of thing people do when they need to start whining about immigration e.g "These so called "immigrants" come over here with their so called "foreign languages" stealing our so called "jobs". "

    Just a warning.

"After all The Welsh Premier League won't admit English clubs!"

Have I ever seen a bigger buffoon post on a national football forum before? TNS (aka The New Saints) are a team that are based in Shropshire, ENGLAND and play in the Welsh Premier League. They have won the league quite a few times and represented the league in the Champions League Qualifiers (even against Liverpool). There are no arguments about this.

Swansea helped found the Third Division of the Football League back in 1920. Other founding members of this league included QPR, Southampton, Reading, Norwich etc etc. So what you have now learned is that Swansea joined the Football League in the same year as QPR and Norwich (the other promoted teams) and Reading (play off runner up). There should be no arguments. If you did a quick history lesson in how the Football League was formed, you will understand why the Welsh teams have always played in the Football League pyramid.

Personally, even as a non-Celt, I'd like nothing more than to see a British and Irish Premier League - and a regional set-up for the clubs competing to get into it... simply to save on extensive travel costs for both clubs and fans.

I'd also like to see a British and Irish 'national' team. Hate seeing the home country teams (including England) getting stuffed in internationals when I know these islands combined produce awesome talent between them.

The Brits and Irish have always been at their best both when working together and competing amongst each other.

All this divisive stuff is just plain bollocks. Diversity rules.
