Looks like Elland is missing in actie decided to start todays morning thread. Todays subject is open forum it all up to you guys today.
Morning WW. Ferencvarous tonight with no Ashdown & no Byram. Both injured. Will be interesting to see how Peltier does at CB. Also interesting to read the YEP & BMD still working on bringing in a player. All seemingly moving in the right direction for once. Saturday & some harder friendlies will clearly show where we are. But I for one start the sason with confidence.
Morning all. Wonder will this players arrival coincide with new investment as with the Murphy one seemed to. Dont care as long as it happens. Nice to be having a fairly positive summer so far. Looking forward to us actually playing someone of note with a full team for 90 minutes. Then we can start to see what sort of shape were in
It's all well and good training in a foreign country for pre-season, but I can't help but wonder if it may end up costing us one of McDermott's targets...hopefully we'll bring in a centre half (Dawson?) and a winger (Mackay-Steven would be nice!) and we'll be looking in decent shape
You can use it knobby cos i tested it first and in my sig. i have a gif save it to your desk top then link it in
Morning all you cup half full guys. Boggers the thing I read into what BMD said in the YEP, was that he was frustrated as hell at not getting anything done. Not happy that he had had no offers about some of our garbage, and was deffo going to kick off about not being able to get this player. He said the player would cost money in a transfer fee, and it sounded like the fee was agreed, but the player wages/contract side is not done? So our poorest Arabs in the world are not shelling out as promised to the manager, and looks like he still needs to off load before he gets someone else in? The years of Bates have crippled and hamstrung this once great club, as all we did was sell our best to keep Bates and mates in clover, and replaced with dross. This club is now at a crossroads, and our poor arab owners need to stop talking big, and act like a club with ambition, just to stop us going backwards. We have a manager who looks like he knows what to do, he's respected throughout the game and he needs support from the board, he knows he'll get it from us fans. Another year 'consolidating' in tis league is not something we can carry on doing. QPR, Reading and plenty more clubs with cash and parachute payments will contend for promotion places. Bolton, Blackburn still have millions to come in these payments, and we can't even compete with the likes of Forest, Foxes, Watford, Brighton, Blackpool any more and on paper are in the same league as Ipswich ffs. Why can one rich arab sell his club for £200m to a rich yank in a few days, when our much bigger club, with much better prospects can't get any investment?
Fair comments Doc, but we don't actually know what the delay is. Doubt, having just stumped up a £1m for Murphey, that it's a problem with money. I think the owners either can't get hold of the player's agent to complete the deal, or they're taking the view that they want a few players off the books first. Either way, I hope this gets sorted soon. Have to disagree somewhat with your 2nd paragaph. We may not have liked the way Papa Smurf ran the club, but at least we're still in business and moving forward. Not sure we would have been had the debts continued to escalate. On promotion, yes, the sooner we get out of this league the better.
Totally agree with Doc they must stop talking and start spending we need at least 3 more players to competewith the likes of Blackburn Bolton Qpr Wigan reading Brighton etc .We can,t compete with Barnsley at the moment I told you Bransley paid Bayern 250k fpr Dale Jennings but we and Town couldn,t compete with his wage demands
We need to spend competitively, but not stupidly. It's all well and good saying we couldn't compete with a club for a player's wages - but if that player is asking for £20,000 a week, the management have to ask the question; is he actually worth that? I want us to be competitive, but we need to be sustainable, and I trust McDermott to get us players on good wages and deals.
Moaning all So we need to trim the fat before we can agree new deals. That's the sign of a well run business, let the overweight slackers stay and warm the bench, its their careers that are going down the drain. Plus it seems we are not willing to offer a player what he wants without first negotiating, this is excellent we are Leeds United! If they want to argue over a couple of thousand let them play for another team. We offer prestige, a chance to impress and develop into a legend at biggest club outside the Premiership, so what if you can get a better deal playing for a minnow. Look how well Jon Douglas and Neil Kilkenny did after arguing over a few quid.
http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20130716/sullivan-returns-to-elland-road_2247585_3239352 Always liked him while he was here, hopefully he can help along a goalkeeper or two from the academy, it's been a while since we had a good one come through
Good point Why would anybody want to work at Tescos for £300 when they can work at Waitrose for £200.
