Apparently there is a small piece in todays Daily Mail which says we are fighting West Ham for the signature of West Brom's Peter Odemwingie.
At 31 years old he doesn't fit our profile and can't say his signing would enthral me. Anyone fancy him?

Be happy with him as one of our two striker acquisitions provided he doesn't cost too much.

Solid, experienced, premiership quality, though nothing to make up chants about.

Can't see this happening and his age I wouldn't bother unless it was a nominal fee.

However I have always been a fan since I saw him play for Nigeria years before his West Brom move.
His subsequent spell with them proves what a good signing he'd have been for us at that time.

What I would say is that his antics to ditch West Brom for QPR last season showed him to not be the classiest person on the planet.
Went down in my estimations there and looked a massive numpty for giving interviews to SSN as a QPR player before he'd even signed.

Free transfer and I'd snap your hand off...

Decent enough player but he's seen better days.

We really need somebody a bit younger to help carry us forward.

Can you imagine odemwingie and bent in and Cisse and Cabaye off? Some of the members on here might top themselves!!!

Big fat no for me. At 31 and being a complete ballbag it just makes no sense, personally I'd rather see one striker like Lukaku (young, big and strong) and a winger than getting either Odemwingie or Bent in.

Oh, if you offer me that choice . . .

But if Odemwingie was one of two strikers, and acquired cheap in order to provide a bit of experience for a season or two, he could be useful

Not against the idea personally. Certainly if he was one of two coming in.

The man is trouble and most importantly, a ****. If he came here and did alright and a bigger club came in for him he would be off. He would be the last sort of mercenary bastard we need

If he comes cheap and performs well enough for a season for us to flog him on to someone better, that would be just about perfect

Indeed, sounds like an ideal scenario with a 31 yr old.

As a stop gap maybe but the way he conducted himself with his QPR antics was poor.

    Agree.

He is not what we need even on a short term basis.

If we had already brought players in, no one would be entertaining him.

Its a bad state of affairs when signing him would be acceptable.

I'd certainly have Lukaku and I see he's refusing to go out on loan again.

Mate everyone would want Lukaku. If our shambles of a club managed to get him in on Loan it would be a coup and a half but it would never happen. Surely Jose must fancy him in the Drogba mold for next season anyway?

He would turn out to be a proper ledge if he came and played for us I know it. Just think us fans would love him. Class player. Peter..maybe take him. Can be quite a handful on his day.
