http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_6962983,00.html for those who cant read it Newcastle target Kevin Gameiro has seemingly ruled out a move to Tyneside after stating he will not join any club not playing in Europe. The Magpies have been leading the chase for the Lorient striker and have already agreed a deal after bidding â¬12million. But while Lorient are happy for him to go, Gameiro is not so keen and has never hidden his desire to move to Spain after Valencia emerged as suitors. Now Paris Saint Germain have also joined the race for his signature, and the forward has now admitted he would be more than happy with a switch to the capital. Speaking from the French national training ground in Clairefontaine, he told Le Parisien: "I want to go to a bigger club than Lorient in France or abroad. "I have always said I am a fan of Spain, this is the football I love." Abroad Valencia are currently only bidding â¬7million, which could see PSG come in and steal a march on them, and Gameiro would not be unhappy with this. "If I go abroad it is to play in the Champions League," he continued. "If I stay in France, this would be for the Champions League and maybe also the Europa League." PSG missed out on a Champions League spot in France, but they are in the Europa League next season. "I know Paris, and I have loved the club since I was a child, and have spoken to Mamadou [Sakho, PSG captain] and he is pushing me to come," the player added. Newcastle remain confident of getting Gameiro, but it appears their target is pushing to move elsewhere.
From Banbridge eh From Newcastle (not upon Tyne) myself In response to your thread. Hes probably just making noises that he is willing to go to a club in Europe in the hope that one of them listens. That doesnt seem to be happening. Do we want a player that never seemed like he wanted to be here is another matter but a pay rise to 45k a week from 8k should give him serious food for thought
Greetings from down the road! 8k ? is that all he is earning!?!? yeh but its a more up to date article, im new here. dont scare me off!

iv seen him play and he looks decent enough for the prem. thing is though what player doesnt want to play in europe? if he was to join plus a few other we could be pushing europe and hopefully that will be put accross to him. at a club currently in europe he is unlikely to get a starting place. a huge pay rise for him plus first team oppertunitys and if the club can convince him we are europe bound in the near future he may find it hard to refuse. heres hoping!
its an insane pay rise, cant understand how he is being paid so little, the premiership has so much to learn from the french league. we should most definitely be pushing for a top 7 finish next year if we can pull off the gervinho, gameiro and cabaye deals. and then a few other young players in order to bolster the squad a bit, if we do want to push for top 7 and the fa cup then we will definitely need a bigger, hungrier squad. very exciting times ahead as if we have gutierrez and ben arfa occupying either wing. lb and rbs around the country will surely be tested!
If he has aspirations and goals to play european football and turns that opportunity down right now in favour of a huge pay rise at Newcastle it could change his entire ethic as a player. He'll know this and so I doubt it's the payrise that we're using to try sway his decision, but proof that we share the aspiration through our squad and transfer targets. Hopefully anyway, not interested in having a bunch of Michael Owens running around in black and white again.
I think with him just breaking into the french squad he'll want the highest level football he can. You never know what to believe with these various reports on what players have supposedly said. They often arrive and dismiss the press reports as utter guff. In this case I'd be worried if we signed him though. The rumours have been so strong he wants european football and spain. Like him as a player but then you only see the good bits on the highlights! Hence the name. Maybe we'll be better served looking at lads who want to come.
