If Marseille want me, I'm going, says QPR midfielder Taarabt By Tom Etherington 14 Jul 2013 14:38:00 The 23-year-old is set to leave Loftus Road this summer and has been linked with the Ligue 1 club, a prospect he would relish having supported the club as a child QPR attacking midfielder Adel Taarabt has admitted he would jump at the chance of joining Marseille this summer. The Rs are looking to offload some of the highest earners on their books following relegation to the Championship last season and Taarabt has been linked with a move to France. Marseille are reported to be contemplating an offer for the 23-year-old, a prospect that delights the Moroccan having supported the Ligue 1 club in his younger days. "The club of my heart? OM," he told Le Parisien. "I have not had a direct contact, but my friend Joey Barton has told everyone at the club about me. "If OM want me, I'm going. My sisters still live in Marseille. This is the first club I supported." The Morocco international moved to Loftus Road on loan from Tottenham in July 2009, before signing permanently 12 months later, and has made 150 league appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals. QPR midfielder Joey Barton enjoyed a season-long loan spell at Marseille last season but coach Elie Baup does not know whether he will return for the upcoming campaign.
"I have not had a direct contact, but my friend Joey Barton has told everyone at the club about me." Something here does not ring true!
Tabloid bollox or not, I hate it when Adel spouts this kind of BS. It's disrespectful to the club and often just makes him look deluded. If he does finally go though, I really worry about who's going to make the goals for us next season.
Given that we scored a grand total of 12 home league goals last season, I find it hard to believe we will be any worse, with of without Adel. He didn't play in 2 of our 4 wins either.
I worry for your user name. In fact, couldn't you re-invent yourself as 'what a load of bolloxingwa' or something. Don't go adel.
I hate it when players say such stuff, there really is no loyalty to clubs anymore regardless of what the club has done for them. Maybe he needs to go elsewhere to appreciate what he had?
Of course, he'll only be going to OM if Milan, Barca and Real forget how desperate they are to sign him (according to him).
It actually seems a bit desperate to me. The guy obviously wants out and not necessarily a loan deal to Stoke. Can't see him being of any use to us whatsoever in his current state of mind.
There's a battle of wills between Harry and Adel. Still wouldn't surprise me if they end up in a bear hug after resolving their differences... but the one thing I'm certain of is that if there is a reconciliation, it won't be orchestrated by Adel's friend, Joey Barton
I think the French league would be the perfect place for him. Best of luck if it happens and thanks for the memories.
