A very good Morning to all the Leeds fans around the globe (especially those in Sarf London !!!! Two late goals from NK Domzale was enough to hand Leeds their first defeat of the pre season. McDermott apparently used all his substitutions, and changed the formation many times. One thing we can take out of the game is another goal for Poleon. I think he has scored in every pre season game. It will be interesting to see whether Poleon gets a starting position when the season starts. One player that missed the trip entirely is Diouf who has a shin infection, and has been ordered to rest. I wonder how much of a role he will have next season? Has anyone here ever followed Leeds abroad. If so, tell us the story???
Morning Elland. Ive been to Elland Road many times. Thats abroad to me. Does that count? Had a great weekend. Flew a plane for first time Saturday morning and had a great 80th birthday party for my dad that night
Morning all. Not too bothered about Saturdays result, except that I hope it showed BMD where his potential problems lie. Young Dom hitting the net again is good, but I also heard we missed a few sitters??? Was that Smith? Another game and then home with the boys being a lot fitter and bonded together, but in the back of the managers mind will be the faces who are not going to fit, so he knows he needs to move them out. A couple of them will never make the grade and should be cut out like a cancer .... I really want to see if Hall is going to make it because if not he needs to be moved on too, and I'm also wondering if EHD is the type of player our manager wants or needs. Could be interesting next week as we may see a few gone and one very decent signing coming in?
Morning all! I have some new dog biscuits to hand out this week, only those Millwall fans whose tails wag the most vigorously will receive them Made the mistake of reading JA606 this morning - some real nobs on there, all doom and gloom after our friendly defeat. Give them a miss, how depressing can a Leeds fan be? Last night was watching some old ITV videos of Leeds in the early 70's. Almost every player was amazingly good, but I have to admit I had forgotten just how good Lorimer was (I think his more recent Bates mouthpiece role has done him no favours). And Bremner - on the goal line one minute, shooting inside the box the next - I doubt the term "box to box" had been invented then. There was a funny bit where the commentators moan about the "tightening up" on the rules - then show someone brutally hacking down Lorimer from behind, and getting a booking ...... commentators thought it outrageous decision by the ref (would be close to a red today) Hope its an interesting week on the player movements front, Doc- some out and at least one good one in, would be great. Anyone else concerned about how slow Murphy has started? Only the highlights I know, but he looked a bit out of his depth so far.
Both Diouf and Hall could be difficult to move on. Dioufs reputation certainly a hinderance and the fact Hall has done nothing since joining us will hardly have clubs beating down the door for him. I get the feeling neither will play any part this season with us
Murphy hasn't looked out out of his depth at all, thats a stupid thing to say about someone who has been with us five minutes. He is behind he others in terms of fitness as McD has already stated. I've listened to both matches and his passing has already been mentioned a few times. Give him time to settle in ffs, he has only played 45mins as yet. And in reply to Doc no Smith wasn't to blame for missing sitters it was various players, Smith played the last thirty only and didn,t get much service. In fact most of the 2nd eleven did sweet fa to be fair hence the defeat.
Morning all. Not a great result at the wekend, but it would appear we could have been 3 up inside half an hour. Add to that that their 2nd goaol was as a result of a massive deflection. Not too bad in the circumstances. Diouff's return to first team action will clearly be some way off, but I'd like to see Hall given a start soon once his wife has had her baby. With a 6ft plenty CF & the team knocking it around, we will certainly need people t get to the byline and pull it back for forwards or onrushing midfielders. Given that my job used to take me abroad for 2 or 3 yrs at a time and given the rise of laptops, I've been able to follow Leeds from abroad for years. Tuning in to LUTV whilst having a barbie or braai, or just being outside a bar with WIFI, it's a tough life at times.
Eire with regard to EHD It wouldn't surprise me if he was snapped up by any number of championship teams, because as we know on his day he can be the difference. He may end up at Hull as again he could be the impact player that Bruce needs to keep him up there .... As for Hall, I'm sure there will be some managers who were monitoring him prior to us picking him up, but agree he could be hard to shift so lets hope he is the real deal. 2020 we had some awesome players and agree Lorimer was brilliant, but as you say he has done himself no favours recently. As for tacking in the 70's and 80's we were called dirty leeds when the reality was that every team had someone worse than us. Chopper Harris was on the park to lay someone out and every team including Southampton, Liverpool, Man City, Everton had a midfield where studs flew each week. Always remember watching Saint & Greavsie on tv years ago taking the piss about modern footballers. Frank Worthington coming on the pitch for the 2nd half with a cig in his gob, Rodney Marsh runnning out of the dressing room at half time to put a bet on and getting back late. Bobby Moore having a beer to get rid of his hangover, but Tommy Smiths studs were legends and most strikers wore them like a badge of courage
Always amazes how people feel they have the right to send insults on these anonymous sites. Your reply is ill-judged, not my post, I made it clear I was basing my comments purely on a few highlights, and I was not writing him off, in fact I was hoping someone else would have a more positive view (which you have, good to know his passing has been mentioned positively).
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23288762 Anyone read the interview with Robbie Rodgers and the beeb. Comes over really good and wishes he had mentioned his problem whilst at the club
Morning all Portugal for the euros with England, but I've never travelled abroad with the mighty LUFC Love having the footy back even if its only pre season! Not long to go now before the Brighton game. I got a feeling we wont have all the pieces of the jigsaw in place by then, but I'm sure we wont be the club in that situation. Too hot already to be stuck in the office. Then I go a parents evening to attend straight after. Oh the joys!
Then I go a parents evening to attend straight after. Oh the joys! Well lets hope your kid can get some good english classes sorted out for you
Morning all Had family staying with me this weekend so missed the game and such, sounds like we had a decent crack at it and you can expect a few mistakes when you change the entire team with 30 minutes left to play really. Poleon is sounding like he is really up for it as well, which can only be good. As for EHD, I can't really see where he fits in at the minute, I guess the fact that he's been well behaved with us (except for that stupid thing with Brighton) would help with moving him on, but I can still see teams having reservations about signing him. I think we'd struggle much more to move Hall on for any money really. Even people who tracked him when we signed him would be concerned that he has barely played in the time since.
Understandable why Hall wasnt on the tour, with birth of baby but hes probably the last player who could afford to miss that tour. Would have a chance to impress but thats gone
Yeah totally agree. Fair reason for him not being there, but it's just a shame because the tour could have been the spine of his last chance. He'll probably get a run out in the games back in England, but I think that'll be too late.
Morning all - I read on Sky Sports news (teletext) that BMD wants one new face, someone he has been chasing a long time. I thought it was originally two more so maybe someone has shone through already? With such a large collection of central midfielders I wonder if we won't see those pacey wide players we have been longing for? It would mean at least two new signings and what if one got injured, we wouldn't have a replacement so maybe the diamond is here to stay and Hall will be shipped out, injury or suspension we will have a vast selection of replacements.
Your new signing is this guy http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11715/8825091 dont rush to open the though!!!
