For me its family, due to my utter dislike of sport of any kind in school, and having a group of friends who hated it as well, I didn't get into football until I left school and made a new group of friends who were/are very passionate about it. Weirdly I actually started supporting Saints while we were in the Championship, and somehow clinged onto them through relegation, administration, and League One. I guess I could have picked any team if I wanted, but I'm an old fashioned sort (a young old fashioned sort) and my family have supported Saints for generations so there really was no one else.

Southampton are both a passion and a burden for me, because I know in my heart of hearts they probably wont achieve anything of true greatness, save for the odd cup run or perhaps the Europa League. Yet I honestly couldn't support anyone else, and there are good times along with the bad, and no matter how many times the Chelski supporting scum tell me they are a small town club who will never achieve anything of any real merit, they are still the club I love to support.

The great thing about supporting a team like Saints is that you can have many 'good' seasons. If you support ManU, there are title years and the others.

LD...for goodness sake......you would be saying something equally degrading if he mentioned Pompey men anyway.......Each to their own for goodness sake he is not doing anyone any harm. Lets face it LD you do seem to be the only one to be complaining because he brought up the subject of the female side of football! ......

    "Each to their own"

So I'm entitled to think it's weird to keep banging on about chick football, particular when the thread is nothing to do with it. In the spirit of "each to his own" I find his obsession with chick football extremely boring ( and a bit pervy).

Okay, please point out the threads where I've brought up women's football then? Furthermore, I wasn't the person to bring up Portsmouth in the first place, 1898 mentioned Portsmouth and St George asked what the hopes for Pompey were, and I just mentioned the women's team. It's hardly like I mentioned them completely out of the blue.

To save you some time, I looked back on my old posts in my profile. In the last 20 pages worth of posts, excluding threads which were specifically referring to women's football (of which there have been a couple), there have seven posts in which I've mentioned women's football. That's hardly a lot

As for whether it's perving, you might leer at women footballers but not everyone does. In fact, before I got officially involved, I was very concerned about going to games in case people thought I was just perving, which is why I only went to two games before I got involved. Surely my intentions were to perv on the team, I wouldn't have been worried out being perceived that way.

Why do you have to keep on referring to women as chicks..? That died out in the 1960's and not only women find it offensive. It isn't a term of endearment either.

The very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov would eat Lord Duckhunter for breakfast and spit his bones out for the dog.

She doesn't suffer misogynists gladly and I can tell you I have only survived by the skin of my teeth on certain occasions following a relatively innocuous throwaway remark about women and their many inadequacies.

To be fair LD you are the only one that has mentioned anything derogatory about any posts that talk about ladies football. Of course you are entitled to your view no matter how outlandish. It is not however the right thing to do when you keep having a go and making derogatory remarks intimating someone is a perv. If you persist then action will be taken. A point of view is one thing but with that point of view comes a responsibility which for the moment you do not seem to adhere to.
