Preferred destination of Suarez that can benefit Liverpool is Real Madrid. Liverpool can ask for one of two of the following players as part of the deal. 1. Xabi Alonso The former Kop favourite has already thrown cold water on rumours linking him back to Anfield but that could change if he becomes pivotal in a deal to land Suarez. Alonso is perfectly engineered for the way Liverpool like to play their current football, heâs popular at the club and heâs guaranteed a starting place in and around a talented group of young midfielders. 2. Raphael Varane Varane has enjoyed his breakthrough season at Real Madrid thanks to Jose Mourinho. Now Mourinho is gone, it opens up the possibility that Varane could be tempted away from the club. Liverpool could offer him a guaranteed starting place and the chance to shape and dominate the identity of Liverpoolâs back four over the next few seasons. 3. Angel di Maria Di Maria is one of the best wingers Real Madrid currently have and similarly to Alonso, heâs perfectly suited to the way Liverpool are playing their football. Heâs very small but very skilful, with lightning pace which is good enough to get the better of most modern Premier League full backs. It would hamper the development of Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe but itâs worth taking him if he can be included. 4. Karim Benzema It looks as though Gonzalo Higuain is destined for Italy, which means the only other striker worth going after for Liverpool, other than Cristiano Ronaldo of course, is Karim Benzema. Benzema would certainly elevate the profile of Liverpoolâs attack and he would bring key experience to the table in terms of the goals he scores and the knowledge of different styles and brands of football he possesses. 5. Raul Albiol Albiol is a player that Liverpool have been linked with heavily over the last couple of months and his versatility would make him a superb defender to have available. His ability to play in the middle of the defence or as a full back would give Brendan Rodgers different options, which is important in the size of Liverpoolâs current squad. Albiol would also give Liverpool the option of still getting a fee from Real Madrid in the same deal, as heâs nowhere near the value of Suarez financially. Which Real Madrid players do you think Liverpool should go after? 5.
What's all this guaranteed a starting place?? No-one should ever be guaranteed a starting place - they have to work hard to gain their starting place.
The only ones that we could tempt would be Alonso due to his previous spell here, it Albiol as he's down the pecking order. Varane is first choice cb with Ramos so no chance he'd leave, same with Di Maria and Benzema who would only leave for a Champ League team
I think getting Alonso back would be disastrous. He was brilliant for us first time around but all the misty eyed romantics who think it will be exactly the same now are getting caught up in the memory.
IF Madrid want Suarez then they will be prepared to find the fee that WE desire in 'readies'. LFC do not exist as a feeder club for them. There is not one player listed above from their squad who I would welcome with open arms. There are, however, a host of clubs who would be more than willing to sell us players that we really want if they can get a piece of our £40-50 million war chest!
Why compromise and take a player from Madrid when we can look else where and find the perfect player? Ronaldo or no one.
Thought Di Maria was quite tall? He was ****e against united in the CL. Who were the makeweights we got for Owen back in '04? Exactly.
Why would any of them come here? We're not even in the Europa this season, Rodgers isn't a big enough pull to convince them that things'll be better next season and our best player wants out... I'd want 45-50mill off them or no deal - especially given what they've been spunking so far, almost 70mill which, incidently is probably why they won't offer us so much cash but instead a bunch of awful B team players.
probably their tactics... talk us into a corner late in august, spend the cash now on players needing cash then throw a few ****es at us late in aust with the cash left over... no thanks! 40mil striaght cash.
Nothing romantic about it. Xabi is a top player who will continue to be at the top well into his thirties, aka Pirlo-esque. He never had pace, never really was a box to box player and didn't rely on power either, he is a technical player who is able to place the on a fifty pence piece with either foot from fifty yards away. His vision and composure are superb. Nothing romantic at all in my eyes, whether he is as good as before or not, he would be a quality addition and fit what BR wants to do perfectly. However, it will not happen
