Serie A side Napoli are close to completing a loan deal for QPR's Brazilian international goalkeeper Julio Cesar. The 33-year-old Cesar joined QPR last summer and produced some impressive displays, although he was unable to save them from relegation to the Championship. And he now looks set for a return to Italy, having made over 200 appearances for Inter during a very successful seven-year stint between 2005-12. Cesar was recalled to the Brazil team last season and was between the sticks for their recent Confederations Cup triumph. The Brazilians will host the World Cup next summer and Cesar is believed to be keen to remain in a high profile league, in order to boost his chances of remaining his country's number one. QPR are thought to be open to his departure due to his high wage bill and he has been strongly linked with a move across the capital to Arsenal. However, a loan move now looks on the cards to Napoli, who enjoyed a superb 2012/13 season, finishing second in Serie A, and who will be coached by Rafael Benitez this season.
Did we pay anything for him? I know Inter were desperate to offload because of his huge wages and they are skint, so possibly not. Strange outcome though if this is true - perfect time to sell him.
He was free from Inter. He's on a four year deal, so hopefully we will get him back if we get promoted again.
For the life of me I can't understand this. After the confederations cup his stock couldn't be higher. Why are we just loaning him? I know keepers don't command the same crazy transfer fees as outfield players but surely we could still get at least £5 million for him. Loaning him out will only reduce his remaining contract with us and any potential future transfer fee. Doesn't make sense.
Good move for everyone, we go back up he rejoins us Of course there's the small matter of gaining promotion again .....
Perhaps it's the money we are paying him and Cesar's reluctance to give that up for the sake of playing in a team that will challenge for trophies. You know. That thing called professional pride. He ain't got it?? Just a thought. He's not the only one
I have a feeling that QPR will loan out players and try and get back first time then we recall them next year? Makes great sense if the contracts are watertight?
This. But why would we want back what clearly didn't work last season? Although Cesar was good, I hope they don't go loaning out the likes of Bosingwa, we just need to get rid of some
No offers for keeper Cesar, say QPR 15/07/2013 By David McIntyre QPR chief executive Philip Beard says the club are yet to receive a concrete offer for Julio Cesar but expect him to move shortly. The Brazil goalkeeper, 33, is desperate to stay in London and join Arsenal, who showed some interest in him midway through last season. With the Gunners yet to make an approach, Napoli believe they can agree a deal to take Cesar back to Italy – a year after he signed for Rangers from Inter Milan. “There’s nothing firm,” said Beard. “He is Brazil’s number one goalkeeper, so I’m sure he’ll interest a lot of clubs as the season starts to get closer. “We’ll look at what deals are on offer and if they’re right for us and the player. “Having Brazil’s number one keeper in the Championship would be an interesting dynamic. We might see something happen.” http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/no-offers-for-keeper-cesar-say-qpr
