I derive great satisfaction from knowing both of these men got a phone call from the club this morning.
Exactly so. If it was the other way round, I would think that the jokers had let their own club down. These are merely idiots who have no self respect, or any for their customer or employer. Well, they'll probably lose their jobs, blot their CVs, embarrass their employer, which won't look good either, and they'll probably find it difficult to obtain a decent position for a long while.
Just a silly prank...didn't do us any harm. Showed disrespect to their employer I suppose....and you don't want to disrespect Nicola. Cost the lives of two more horses I suppose. Mauricio says the New Forest is full of donkeys...does that mean Nicola has killed all the ponies.
Pompey are just softening themselves up. They know that every time they face Saints they're going to be buried, so they're planning in advance.
They have embarrassed themselves and they may well lose their jobs, but it was a silly prank, not a heinous crime. I still think there is some over reaction. No-one was hurt. It is immature as I said earlier and posting up the video was stupid, but harmless.
Frankly, I don't think Cortese is going to see it that way. He's going to question the quality and commitment of the work of those two, and it will reflect badly on the building company. If he decides to get sh!tty about it, it could cost the company more than money. It could damage their reputation. You can't just laugh these things off as a joke.
For me there are two parts to this. I agree that putting the shirt in the wall is, by itself, just a prank. But making and posting online a video in which you put the shirt in the wall, call the organisation you're working for "the scum" and say you hate them? Realistically that's a sacking.
As TSS mentioned, it's not so much the act of putting the shirt in, it's the fact that these two are being paid to build this structure and from this deed it's perfectly reasonable to assume that they could have a negative effect on the build. If they care so much about getting one over on the 'scum' then they are just as likely to cut corners in building, do a sloppy job, purposefully sabotage things etc. etc. If someone filmed themselves sneaking in and having the audacity to try and hide one in there, then I'd say fair game good for you, I think the actual prank is pretty funny really, but the fact that these guys are paid 'professionals' makes it not OK.
I blame the club for employing these half wits in the first place. I wouldn't let any fish fiddler near any job of mine, they can't be trusted.
I've been told that the same thing happened during the construction of the Ricoh Arena - apparently there's a Leicester shirt that can be found somewhere in the foundations.
... but not a heinous crime. If they do a substandard job than that is not good and I would imagine Mr Cortese would be having words, but can you really link a prank like that to purposefully doing a poor craftsmen a job? Paranoia is on the horizon. I have customers who are Pompey fans and I give them loads about it. They still buy from me and i don't think for one minute about ripping them off.
I helped a Manchester United fan choose his outfit for his wedding...I limited myself to saying in a surprised voice, 'Do people marry United fans!'
Supposedly there's quite a bit of Spurs kit hidden in the Emirates. Seems to be quite standard these days.
