We aren't used to all this transfer window activity but I think it will be this way in the future too. My thinking is that as players develop we will sell on and so we will see a high player turnover. Buy "Cheap" sell "High"- put the Club on a sound financial footing (reduce the borrowing) while endeavouring to maintain a better quality squad and building towards us being a top Club. I might take up yoga to help me relax, all this activity is too exciting.
It won't be like this every year. We are simply clearing the deadwood. Yes we will sell for the right price but we won't buy a new team every year.
****in Yoga. I do that as part of this circuit training I do, and as i'm not flexible to hurts like ****. Brilliant for upper body strength tho. Just don't let your mates catch you doing it! I think we will still buy lots of players, but loan them out. Some of them won't even end up playing a single game for Sunderland. Just like Udinese do. Buy a heap of players, loan them out, develop them, and sell high.
This. No club can build long term success with transfer windows like this every season. this has been a radical one off booster window to take massive strides in a few weeks to rectify a long term failure (hopefully) but it would be reckless to repeat year on year. We may add 1 or 2 in January and maybe 1 or 2 again next summer but that will be it. My one wish is for Rose this summer but its looking less and less likely tbh with our attentions appearing to move to Germany for a left back. Such a pity imo.
I think it will be the only one like this. With the young lads were bringing in we will have players coming up from the development squad in the future. It seems radical now but i think its just starting to plan for more than next season
This, for two reasons. 1: The fundamentals of the squad that we found ourselves with last season wasn't good enough for long-term success (even though they were good enough to spank the under nourished ones 0-3 on their own patch, which is more an indicator of their state as opposed to our state). 2: PDC is transforming the club into a club that is capable of competing on a European level. Big changes this season, tinkering beyond.
I did think this as well mate and desperately hope it is. Rose would be 'the' signing for me this summer if he came.
I think we'll make many many sales, but first we need to stock the development squad then the ones who aren't going to make the first team will go out on Loan to buy once developed.
Yeah, as with any new manager, he wants his 'own' team. Plus PDC was aware how ****e we were last year which meant he decided to go the whole hog. Plus, he doesn't like unfit player, plus he does't like fancy dans, plus he doesn't like un comittment. Pretty sure after the next 3, Argie, Iti and TH, maybe a striker or two out and one in and then that should be it. Tweak one or two in the window and then settle down until PDC leaves the club....................Then off we go again....
