Has this been debated on here? Must surely be one of the best strikers we have been linked with and Bruce has an association with him.........BUT!!!! HUGE baggage with his attitude, and a HUGE risk to us especially when you consider whether we succeed or fail next season is likely to turn on whether our team spirit can carry us through or not. Wonder what his wage demands are like, surely over £40k, but if Arsenal don't want a huge fee (unlike Rhodes at Blackburn) a deal might be doable?? Thoughts?
That surely rings alarm bells then. And he's a cock anyway, wouldn't risk him upsetting team harmony.
Far too expensive on wages. Could also prove to be disruptive. Would rather go back with a cut price offer for Austin, and Odemwengie.
I'd have him in a heartbeat. If his wages don't break the structure we have in place, then great. Why do people assume he'll be a dick to everybody once he arrives? People need to stop writing players off before they've had a chance. As has been said, he's probably the best striker we've been linked with so far (aside from Bent) and you can say what you want about his time at Arsenal, but his international goal scoring record is pretty impressive.
Exactly - people forget we're talking about someone who has been described as one of the best strikers in the world! The fact that it was Bendtner doing the describing, of course, takes nothing away from the plaudit.
Sorry to rain on everyone's parade but I think he's vastly over rated (apart from in his own hugely inflated opinion of himself...) and vastly over paid.....I can already hear the cries of anguish as he misses another sitter at the KC......
Without a doubt I'd have him here. A hell of a lot better then anyone we have been linked with or already have.
Last time he was with Bruce he scored 8 goals in 28 games, so that's around 12 goals a season. That surely is at least as good as anything we have been looking at and he can play as a loan striker.# The character issue might not be a factor if you consider Bruce seems to have got performances out of him before and will probably feel he can again. Plus, and I cannot emphasise this enough, we aren't being overly successful in the striker department anyway. Beggars can't be choosers!
1 in 4.3 for all clubs scoring ratio 1 in 4.5 at Arsenal 1 in 3.8 for Birmingham 1 in 3.5 for Sunderland 1 in 2.5 for Denmark I would think a lot of his Arsenal appearances were from the bench too so the minutes ratio would probably make him him look better. Plus he's still only 25, I thought he was older tbh. I would take him. Still want Odemwingie though, we could have closed this off by now, imo
Those stats are a bit misleading, most of his appearances for Brum and Sunderland were starts, but for Arsenal, he's come of the bench in 60% of his games.
Lets be honest, his ego wouldn't allow him to sign for us. He believes he is one of Europe's best strikers and deserves to be playing champions league football.
Alright lads, belated congrats, and cheers (I backed you to go up when you appointment Bruce ) on getting up. Bendtner when we had him, well there were flashes from the lad that really where superb, he IS a very good footballer, his main problem being he is a bit selfish. My mate works as a coach at Sunderland, and he said to the contrary Bendy is a top lad, and although he does ponce about, a lot of it is light hearted and he fitted in well. I'd have him back, personally, and I think he'd do a top job for you lads. He was gonna sign for Eintracht, suggesting a dip in his inflated expectations anyway! All the best.
Cheers for that PP. He sounds a bit more promising now. I suppose as others have said, the wages are going to be the problem.£65k a week was mentioned.
