"Biggest local rivals for me though were the 2 Sheffield clubs, Barnsley and to a certain extent Leeds. Only ever saw Scunny, Lincoln and Hull as annoying little brothers."

    How times change, **** head.

Ferriby and Braintree are your rivals now.

    Die Grimsby die.

I wonder how they feel now that North Ferriby are just a league below them. Do they still have a league cup that has all the Blue Square teams in it? I'd actually go if they were drawn away.

Grimsby was an alright matchday experience, but as soon as the match was over, I wasn't happy until I saw Saltend. Which probably makes me the first person ever to utter those words in that order.

Imagine the dullest sink estate in Hull.

Remove the edginess, the character, the wit and the warmth.

That's the best area of Grimsby .

I don't have anything against clubs like Grimsby, the fans of clubs like that and Lincoln, know without doubt, they will never be in the big time.

They're the total opposite of the glory hunting, plastic fans of Manure,Arsenal ect. Even when we were down in div 4,i always knew we could be a top flight club one day.

All we needed was someone to come in,and run the club properly (Adam Pearson take a bow).

Their fans support their club no matter what, and i respect them for that.

    Well put.

I used to utterly despise Grimsby Town.

These days, due to their abject insignificance, I forget and consequently they fall merely into some non flash point of indifference.

Good to read that thread and remember why I hate(d) the ****s though.

    Some fair points made there.

The fans who still support them, I will (in theory) respect.

Naturally their support has dwindled over the years and I reckon some of them (not the hardcore, but their margins) will try and watch us in the Prem – there was a thread on a Scunthorpe forum recently condemning their own fans for coming to watch us instead.

Used to live in a place called Waltham, nr Grimby, 25yrs ago, working split shifts.

Went to see a Grimby match inbetween shifts with a couple of workmates. At half time they gave latest scores on the tanoy. City were winning and I cheered. This didn't go down well at all and if the lads I went with weren't local, known people , I know for a fact I'd of been set upon.

At that time I didn't understand the hatred of all things Hull.

Don't mess with lads from Cleethorpes <ok>
