A minor point I noticed yesterday was that the players were wearing their shirt numbers from last season, bar a few like Mbia.

Also wearing a different number was Faurlin who had 10 - Adel's number. Perhaps I am reading too much into it but that could be a sign that Adel is off?

Really hope not as we looked clueless last night. No creativity at all - and I see from the thread on the match that others agreed.

Perhaps there is nothing in it, but you never know.

Adel deserves a serious kick in the ass. Some of his behaviour has been intolerable. Selling him is one thing but who do we buy to replace him and how much will that cost?

I do agree - his reported attitude needs punishing as it is not good enough. Perhaps being sent home will serve that kick up the arse?

But Warnock managed to man manage adel through the season and it was largely ok, it seems Harry wont put up with any of it.

Without wanting to start another Taarabt thread - well I have tbh! - I dont think we will get someone good enough in with 60% of any fee received (40% going to spurs). Well thats if the fee is around 8m.

Judo, Warnock managed him by making him a special case, treating him with kid gloves and indulging his selfishness.

One does wonder how much that contributed to the lack of team spirit as opposed to the 'mercenaries' we are so fond of berating on this board.

One thing Hughes got right was not being afraid to drop Taarabt when his attitude did not deserve a starting place. harry is doing the same and that has to be good for the team in the long run.

    Fine him
    Slap him about

BUT we cannot afford to get rid of the one truly creative spark we have

In the season we were promoted team spirit was brilliant from the off and neither was team spirit a problem in the years before bar of course the Buzsaky Magilton incident so I don't believe that taarabt can be to blame for that.

Also despite not playing that much over last season Taarabt contributed to a third of our goals last season despite being poor according to many. Like it or not he is one of if not our best player and genuinely loves the club.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jol took Adel to Spurs I think. Harold offloaded him to us at a cut down price, and obviously doesn't think much of him, and we know H doesn't change his mind about players, either way. Once again we are undermining his value, if H want's rid he should have put him clearly in the shop window and not taken him to Devon in the first place.

As to Spurs' cut of any transfer fee, really who cares. We've had a season of genius from him and flashes of it since, I've had my money's worth. We obviously won't be replacing like with like as player like him are as rare as hens' teeth.

I have inadvertently started another of those threads on Taarabt!

    Didn't think! :)

We didn't have a problem with team spirit until the likes of Barton, SWP etc came in.

But going on last nights game, we need Adel.

Jol was manager but I think it was probably Comolli that signed him.

We may have has our monies worth, but there is still more on offer, and as you so rightly say, they are very few players with his ability around.

I'm glad to say that I'm away for the weekend so I'll not have to mop up the mess when Queenslander!! gets hold of this thread. Good luck Nines!!!

Noticed that also ... If Adel goes and Harold lets it happen then the heart has gone also. This player is a cnut off the pitch no arguments really ... on it a master.
He needs managing sadly we haven't really got one at the moment. Don't worry about Queens he has been away too long

Apologies for starting the thread, completely forgot the trouble they cause! If it gets too out of hand happy for you or Nines to lock as/when required!

Or perhaps we can all agree to only discuss my point regarding Faurlin taking his shirt number, and not whether we want him to go or not!

No need to apologise mate. There can be as many Adel threads as our board sees fit. There was a point during my initiation as a Mod when I feared the 'Taarabt' threads as they were always the contentious ones. Anyway after a bit of thought, I decided to face these fears and let them roll. The way I see it is there will always be pro Adel and anti Adel. After a while of 'beating about the bush' poster A would tire of poster B churning out the same old argument and we will be back to square one. They will then realise that it is all futile and they, like us will soon get bored of themselves going around in circles. <cheers>

Back on topic, re;- No. 10 shirt, I think Harry has a cunning plan. Adel will either go or apologise and give his all again. I think it will be the former though.

Yes, team spirit was great the year we went up but, having just read Warnock's book, it's pretty obvious that he had to almost beg the senior players to indulge Adel and not complain about his lack of training and attitude on the pitch. Had we not got off to such a great start that year, those players wouldn't have been so obliging. What also went in Warnock's favour was that the senior players at the club at the time had never played in the top division (except Paddy for one season) and they were willing to listen Warnock when he told them that he thought Adel could get them there. It turns out he was right.

Now, however, we have players like Barton, SWP, Zamora, Remy, Johnson, M'Bia, Park, Cesar and even Traore that have played at the top level for a long time, with better players than Adel who had a better attitude. So, it's understandable that those players would be unwilling to pander to him.

I'd like nothing more than to see Adel stay, with the right attitude and work ethic. I just can't see it happening and if the club as whole is better off without him, then so be it.

Without getting involved in this too much because I cant really be arsed.

    1. We got Adel at cut price because Harry didn't like him.
    2. He basically got us promoted. not single handed but he scored the goals so has to take the credit.
    3. Other players were forced to put up with his sh*t and it payed off.
    4. We arrived in the premiership and he was found out very quickly and taken the P out of by so many players its embarrassing.
    5. He promised so much under Hughes then rednapp and failed to deliver anything like many others)
    6. he was instrumental in our relegation., demise, lack of unity within the dressing room & missed chances. Basically failed to lie up to his billing..( same as many others)
    7. We are down and out & people are still defending and promoting his genius.

Finally as I said 18 months ago:
Thank you Adel for getting us up and the magic moments you provided us with. Now we are a club with plans of progression as a TEAM and you do not fit into that mould. you will always be remembered as an instrumental player, but before you get to big remember this. you were woefully exposed when you made the prem and until you sort out your attitude; you will be nothing more than a "could have been" instead of a "was a good player". Even the likes of jenas, Park, Zamora, AJ, Ceasar, Boswinga, SWP and traore have achieved that status. these are your team mates that you are supposed to be better than, yet you have archived nothing in comparison to any of these named players.
All of these have been top model Pros and done it at the top level for years. Go away and come back when you have grown some sort of appreciation of those around you AND mainly those devoted fans who travel the country to be cheated by your performances and attitude!
Adios & good luck with your life.

Never ever give up on people. That's how I approach my staff.

Returning to the facts. He's been disciplined. That's all.

The reaction to this - that we're unlikely to see - (as it is pre season and it will be evident in training) - will determine whether the lad has a future.

Excuse the pun, but the ball is in his court.

    How will he react?

Will he step up and face his challenges, or step away?
