JORDAN: MINUTES MATTER PUBLISHED 23:35 11th July 2013 by @OfficialQPR Joe content after pre-season opener ... RâS FIRST team coach Joe Jordan was glad to finally get some minutes into the squad following tonightâs (Thursday) 0-0 friendly draw at Exeter City. Rangers enjoyed a lot of time on the ball though were unable to turn possession into clear-cut opportunities. But speaking after the first fixture of QPRâs pre-season campaign, Jordan - who took on media duties at full-time following knee surgery for boss Harry Redknapp - said: âIt was just good to get some football into the boys. âI think the most important thing in pre-season is eventually getting the team games and getting the minutes in. âApart from that, youâve got to work hard so that you can get to a condition where you can do that. âThe players, in the period of time they had in London before we came away, did some hard running and have progressed down here, in some great weather and conditions. âWe got the ball out and now weâve got the feeling of playing and the minutes under our belts.â He continued: âThereâs no problem with the spirit of the players. Theyâve shown some great application in training, which is what youâd expect. Now we move on. âMost of the players played 45 minutes tonight and thereâs a game coming up [against Peterborough United] on Saturday, where we can get some more minutes into them.â Danny Simpson made his first QPR appearance at St. Jamesâ Park following a summer move, while Andy Johnson returned after a near-10-month absence with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Jordan added: âThere were lots of positives tonight. Andy Johnson looked sharp. There are a few players who have had injury problems in recent times, and Andy is one of those. âThere are also others who have carried little knocks and itâs great for all of them that theyâve come through tonight and can move on. âAll of the players just want to get through pre-season, get the games under their belts and be ready for August 3rd.â Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/110713-jordan-minutes-matter-909700.aspx?#xKfp6K3QJVBxMASu.99
A good workout, forget the result it's just getting us up to speed at present and some of the crocks from last season some game-time...
Tell you what put some more minutes in Joe! If anyone on here attempts to tell me that getting minutes in them means playing Exeter and Posh best they lick me up ... I am fuming We got relegated in the most awful way and I would want games against premiership sides to raise games and instill a team spirit This is all going wrong lads Could you honestly make this up Being easily held twice by an Exeter city side 22 days and counting The idiot has said we need to get off to a flyer against Wednesday These games mean nothing Wake up lads they mean everything TF : loads to make up to the fans Bloody right there tony we are sinking and can't put together a performance with two sides against Exeter You need a game to raise we haven't got a game
Lads I promise I will passionately support our Rs when a competitive ball is kicked and then I will zip it and only supportive messages will I utter but I was heartbroken to witness what was only a friendly game ... After what has happened and with Tony and Phil travelling there also it needed some importance shown ... We were contained very easily yet we kept the ball but what can you learn about that last night ... It's bollocks and we are in a position where the manager has built zero team spirit and then had his knee done and left it to Stephen IMO We have to get a basic game together as a starting point ... Sending out training videos with duffs soundtracks which I could make in an hour bullshits us ... The players are not together and the manager has said they are not good enough ... Everyone is making us favourites as they should we have two good teams in the squad but we are not together ... Anyone can see that by the way the ball moves when we have it and if we get into areas we then panic front and back Harold has brought real pressure to our club and himself and to a team that needs freedom to express it'self and grow
Dave - whatever happened to 8th and Bosingwa for the Golden Boot? Success isn't always measured in a conventional way. Chin up lad. I'm off to Spain next week for tapas & grilled fish, calamari and rioja. We always do things the most idiotic and cockarsed way possible. We have a touted England Manager and an ex England Manager on the squad, 367 midfielders and everyone else is moving to Swansea. Lets get Alberti back and have a pie at Barnsley
In my opinion, pre-season results don't mean much at all. In the past we've had great pre-season results and then a **** league campaign. Likewise, we've had ****e pre-season results and then a good league campaign. Take what you will from the results. I only really care about them getting experience and fitness.
I still vividly recall Englands awful performance in Hong Kong in a friendly and we all know what happened in Euro 96. Probably the best England displays for a long while!
I am not sure what to make of this draw. I am not as pessimistic as some. I do think the atmosphere makes a difference. Playing a friendly away in front of 337 R's fans is not the same as the rocking Loftus Road we will hear on 3.8.13. COYRss!
Quite right, the worst bit about that trip was the football (As with most England away games) I travelled out there for 3 days to watch it and met Tim Flowers and Alan Shearer in a bar the night before the game. Shearer was a miserable p**** and hardly said a word but Flowers was great, even though i got p***** and kept calling him 'Tom' most of the night
Yes I was at that match mate. Got a fair bit of stick as I recall as I had on the old dark blue 'view from' QPR shirt on.
I was at that game against Golden and saw the England squad out the night before. We're bad but not that bad
You should be able to but there was another guy with one on as well. For some reason one of the shops in HK (Giadarnos or something) got a job lot of QPR shirts in a few weeks before so my wife came home with one of each. I would imagine they still have most of them still there!
My mate was at that same bar (with the Dentist chair in it) one night when the cricket sixes were on and he saw a famouse Aussie bowler come out of the loo with a 'dirty dolly' I won't say who he was but he had handlebar facial hair!
Yeah we went onto strawberrys with ray parlour who then got into a scrap with a cab driver outside joe bananas - good night out but then I wasn't representing my country at football the next day
