i notice anton does not look like he is going any where, does any one think he can fill the centre back role or like me think we should be looking to fill this role with some one new. i would mind seeing M bia filling the role not sure if he will be with us come the start of the season. if he staying hopefully some one has told him to stop rolling around like an idoit and to stop fowling people outside the box waiting for players is starting to drag a bit to be honest would have hoped we would have got a few free transfers or cheap championship players in now that we sold samba.
As a centre back that means he will be fouling people INSIDE the box! Can't see Mbia hanging around. Probably back to France. Anton will be okay in the Championship IF the coaches organise the whole of the defence properly.
This is the most important point. We have not had a cohesive, organised defensive line for a long time. I like the thought of Onouha as one of our CBs. I like Hill, but is he really our future? Or will he be good for this season? Where is our succession planning for his position?
I was hoping that young lad we signed from Pompey would come through. I can't remember his name but there was a lot of talk at the time about him being a Tony Adams type centre half. I'd like to see Anton do well especially after dropping down a division, but I don't trust him. He had a complete mare against League 1 opposition MK Dons in the FA Cup.
I do not want Ferdinand or Mbia at this club. Ferdinand is more focused on getting justice from the John Terry incident than playing football and Mbia is a clown. If you watch the latest QPR training video from Devon you can vividly see Kevin Bond coaching him to pass the ball to a team mate. Bottom line is, he's useless and brain dead.
Onouha plus one is the way forward, howwver I don't see Nedum leading the back line at the moment, he'll need someone along side who a) will lead the line and b) is more experienced in the roll. Neither Anton or Mbia fit the bill.
Matt mills could be a good option. Unsettled where he is, but if we could get him back to the form he showed at reading he'd be a great signing! Oh, I almost forgot, we make players worse not better........ ;-)
Palace got promoted using Gabbidon, Delaney and my namesake as centre backs so he should be good enough for a promotion team BUT he aint that great in the air and in the championship set pieces are even more vital. 4th choice for me. Hill 3rd choice and we do need to invest in a quality CB to partner Onouha. If we do that we'll have best back 5 in the league
We need 2 CBs, Hill is only good enough for a reserve so we need someone to partner Onuoha plus 1 more if Ferdinand goes. Id take Ramage back, in fact hes someone that I dont think we should have got rid of. He had the right attitude and was too often judged as a RB which he never was.
Why no? He's a solid championship centre back. Great in the air, strong leader! I've seen him play many times, especially at reading, and he was quality. Still only 25,so good age, and should be reaching his peak soon. Better than the crap we've had/got/are linked with!
It's possible that Anton Ferdinand will come good for us this season, if he can be more focused this year. But I wouldn't be depending on him. I'd have him as second choice only. Then he can prove himself.
Onouha will be first choice then need 1 other + Hill as back up. Did think about Gorkks & IMO would be a decent combo + was fairly harshly sold in the first place. MBIA will be gone & never that convinced by Ferdinand.
