Pardew has spoken again concerning other clubs coming in for our top players. There has been speculation ongoing about moves away for the likes of Cabaye, Krull, Ben Arfa and Tiote amongst others.
However, Pardew is confident that due to Newcastle's strong financial position, any clubs making a move for our stars would need to "blow the doors off" with their bids.

I am not sure if l am assured by such statements or not really. It takes me back to the Andy Carroll quote, when Pardew said he was not for sale and then.......

To be fair the situation with say the likes of Cabaye is different as we have not said we won't sell, just that we would want silly money.

I worry that MA might just sell someone to wind Pardew up a bit more, because let's be honest about it, it wouldn't be the first time Pardew was made to look a fool by MA now would it.

I think Cabaye and Krul will leave. We would maybe make 35-40 million out of that sale and perhaps spend about 12-15 million of it and that's if Mike is feeling generous

My worry is that our flimsey doors will only weaken at the last minute....

My biggest fear with all of this is the players putting in transfer requests and our hand being forced. And like ACS said that it will all happen at the end of the transfer window.

I'm more likely to take seriously David Cameron's typical ramblings that anything that comes from canny bairn Pardew.

They don't get a loyalty bonus if they do that though. And I would imagine they're in line for a fair few quid if they get sold for £20 million "against their wishes".
I don't want to leave, but someone who is acting as my agent, who isn't actually my agent, has negotiated a megabucks deal to "insert oil rich club here" so you Mr Ashley stand to make a 300% profit on me.

Maybe that's why we're getting the "historic" gates put back. What better way to keep players in than with 20ft high wrought iron gates?

Maybe that was the Mike/Derek disagreement?
What do you mean a bolt?
Why would you need a bolt on a gate?
    Get out!

Pards doesn't do a bad job of that himself at times.

Do they never get bored of asking him the same questions over and over again? "There is interest in your big players, will you be selling?" Is this a mandatory question at every Newcastle interview? Pards then gives his standard "if we do it'll be for silly money". I actually appreciate him mixing it up, throwing a bit of Italian Job in there.

Every player at every club has a price. Every club is vulnerable to a player wanting to leave bar the elite.

Too true. I'd be a bit sad but not too upset if someone blew the doors of for Cabaye. I like him for the most part but he played poorly for extended periods last season and any money raised could be used to replace him with someone like Siem de Jong. We'd have money left in hand (hopefully for further strengthening) and a replacement who should be just as good.

Ben Arfa is another story. Even though he has had a terrible time with injuries I'd be gutted if we sold him. Don't think we could get a replacement that was so exciting to watch. If he can get a good run without picking up any more problems he's going to be seriously good.

    It's so utterly, utterly tiresome.

Did any Atletico fan want to lose Falcao? Did Man U want to lose Ronaldo a few years back? What about Arsenal/RvP? It fcking happens, absolutely everywhere. I'd love Pardew to come up with these stats and ask the press "do you ask Ancelotti the same question? Because according to each and every one of you, Man City/PSG/Monaco are all going to buy Ronaldo - stop trying to make us out to be something we're not. All we are is a fcking football club. Every player IN THE WORLD has a price. It's called football."

Are you suggesting the sales figures are optimistic? We'll get more than you did for Mignolet because A) Krul has 4 years left on his contract and B) We tend to drive hard bargains for our players. £15m seems realistic for one of the top young keepers in European football. The £20m for Cabaye seems a given that it will almost certainly be PSG who comes in for him.

    I agree with this.
Krul also has European experience under his belt which will add to his saleability.
He's better than De Gea and the Spaniard went for well over £15m if I remember rightly.
We do indeed drive a very hard bargain as the sale of Carroll proved.

Someone needs to blow the doors off Ashley's wallet, before all the decent strikers are gone, and we're left with Shola as back up again next season!!!

Thought your figures were pretty realistic. £15million for Krul is what I would expect MA to hold out for, and I'd actually be quite surprised if he let Cabaye go for even £20million. Think he will look to get at least £25million for him.

I wouldn't want to lose either but I wouldn't blame Pards or MA if we did. Unfortunately I can imagine our doom and gloom merchants who think we are somehow immune to normal football business, preparing to jump off the bridge.

I think Tim Krul will be harder to buy than the others... he really does love it here and is guaranteed first-team football if fit.

That said, if we do sell Cabaye & Ben Arfa, you could see Tim questioning the clubs ambition... ala Seamus Given.
