That Edman goal was an absolute peach.

Yeah - Bale aside (he did look good there even when he first came) it's probably between a past-it Ziege and a "7/10 most games" sort of player in Edman. Atouba. Thatcher. You just have to say their names. Gilberto was one of the worst Spurs players in the last twenty years...

Gilberto's the worst player I've seen at Spurs. God he was horrendous to watch.

Was he LB at the same time as Rocha was CB? If so, that was a quality backline. Ledley and OLD RIGHT BACK must have dreaded every game

Oh god, Gilberto and Rocha in the same sentence gives me nightmares! TBH can't remember if they actually played in any games together though. If they did, we lost <laugh>

Gilberto is the worst 'defender' I have seen in my 23 years of supporting Spurs. As already mentioned Clive Wilson was also shocking. Benny has his faults, if he didn't he wouldn't be playing for us in all honesty, but he is the best LB we've had in my time IMO

Jesus - could you imagine? Rocha was a horrible player. Who was our right back before Charlie? Having a block. Charlie was very good. Carr was superb for a while. But who did we have between those two? We had about four or five RBs at one point a few years ago, I know that.

Hutton! No - someone else. Around the same time...

Benny is the best LB in recent years I think, but for some reasons has his mistakes picked up and made more of then others. As has been said, all defenders make mistakes so if you are looking only at that you are bound to find them. Yet I have not seen any evdience that he makes more than anyone else. How many mistakes did Walker make last season, rather a lot and some of those cost us points. Far more significant than Benny's mistakes that to a great extent was down to his injuries anyway. IMHO it was his injuries that led to him not appearing instead of Walker rather than AVB losing faith.

Incidentally everyone's idea of "in my time" is different, but in my time, and indeed the best full back I have ever seen is Hughton. I just don't recall anyone ever getting past him!

    Stalteri?

Chimbonda was after Stalteri but I liked Chimbonda, not sure what everyone else thought but he was one our better RB's in recent years in my opinion.

When he first signed up i remember wondering about the wisdom of having a CB who appeared to be under 5ft tall and with floppy hair in his eyes.
I dunno if i'm projecting crapness onto him, but wasn't he also dog slow?

Stalteri! Legend for the West Ham goal alone.
ChimBOMBa was good, liked him. Decent at centre back too. Would not get near our team now though, but at the time, good.

Yep, Walker was at fault for a hell of a lot of points last season, more than any player let alone Benny. I'm amazed AVB kept him in the starting XI for so long, it was only like the last 5 or 6 games of the season he looked good.

Stalteri - now there's a forgettable player. Yeah - Chimbonda was decent enough, especially (only?) in first spell. Wasn't there someone else, though?

So did we go straight from Carr to Stalteri? I definitely was not thinking of Gunter. I doubt many Spurs fans have ever given him much thought.

Not that i can remember. There were a lot of players we played out of position a few times though. See if this rings any bells:

Stephen Kelly? I'm sure he was around that sort of period in between Carr and Stalteri?
