Please don't shoot the messanger here, I'm merely cutting and pasting the article (which provides no factual support - yes, that's the enitre 'article' as far as it concerns Giaccherini below. Yes, really). But hey, it's still exciting. We've gone from 'no way in hell would we ever get him', to 'please don't waste my time with this s***', to 'let's take this with a grain of salt', to 'wouldn't it be nice', to 'hey, this is actually serious'. We might actually get to 'F*** YEAH!!!'. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/413947/Sunderland-signs-Emanuele-Giaccherini-from-Juventus?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+daily-express-football-news+%28Daily+Express+%3A%3A+Football+Feed%29 Sunderland signs Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus SUNDERLAND look to have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus for £6.8m, according to sources in Italy.
Major signing if it comes off. All these happenings and it`s only been a month. Can`t take it all in. Got me bluddy dizzy.
There's still time to get a good price on a top 8 finish, the bookies have us down for 15th (Ladbokes)
The start of a couple of marquee signings maybe ? We've signed 6 or 7 new faces so far, half of which will be first team starters and with Huddlestone and Rose looking certain to follow, by all accounts, and Fletch promised to be fit for the start of this season - everything is looking f*cking amazing. Giaccherini is a massive coup, that's for sure, - I won't be surprised to see at least one huge household name joining to make for a mouth watering 2013 campaign. Bring the f*cker on, I say !!!!
One worry I have is that QPR signed a raft of players last season - look what happened to them! Sorry but it's the pessimist in my Dad coming out in me! I am an optimistic person but try to look at things realistically and sometimes the realism goes past realism to negativity! I'm excited but a little nervous as well - mainly because I know nothing about the players we've signed excep[t what I've read on here! Huddlestone has been heavily linked this morning as well - so we may be selling one crock midfielder (Catts) and buying another! Peruzzi and Giaccherini (SP?) would be 8 and 9 - we could have a totally new setup come first game!
Big difference here mate is that we are not just hoying silly money about like qpr did, these a well calculated possibly even fairly long term targets
My 2p here would be that QPR signed all the wrong types of players. Samba was just a mercenary who got offered 100k a week to play when he left to go somewhere else for more money. Julio Cesar was on 90k a week, Hoilett choose them over some good clubs because he got offered more money. Granero leavin Real for QPR? Money. Our guys aren't here because they are getting paid a heap of cash. Sure, they are earning more than they are in their original leagues, but the EPL is the place to be. Play your heart out and you'll get more money. As it should be. Not come in with a bumper contract and play just to collect it. I have more faith in what we're doing rather than signing mercs.
We dont need household names or marquee signings, just quality players. Gareth Barry is a household name for christs sake haha I still think we need a playmaker to make the pass before the assist, just like Modric does really but for much cheaper haha
No arguments - but Mick McCarthy signed 12 or 13 players when he got us promoted and the rest, as they say, is history! As I said - my Dad is an eternal pessimist and I'm the opposite - but I sometimes swing to his side of the fence for a brief moment or 2! - Don't worry I'll try to keep away from it from now on!
Mate, its as good opinion as any and we all drift over there from time to time, even once giaccherni (sp) and peruzzi are on board our net spend will still be around zero i think, this is calculated squad building at its finest from my pov, and i think we are just getting started, add huddlestone to the mix and rose then maybe will have spent £12m on a uplifting overhaul with money still to spend and i wouldnt be suprised if the wage bill hasnt gone up much either, just my opinion mind
More Giaccherini stuff: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8819130/ Juventus coach Antonio Conte has revealed that the club have reluctantly accepted a bid from Sunderland for playmaker Emanuele Giaccherini. The reigning Serie A champions had been hoping to see the Italy international winger remain in Turin, but concede that they cannot offer him the opportunities he craves. Taking that into account, they are prepared to discuss a transfer with Sunderland. The Black Cats have been busy bolstering their ranks this summer, with seven deals already tied up, and Giaccherini would represent another shrewd piece of business for Paolo Di Canio. Conte wishes the 28-year-old well and accepts that sales must be sanctioned if his own side are to strengthen during the current window. He said: "Giaccherini was valued, they offered him an important contract. "I'm happy for him but unhappy for me. "I'm not happy with the sale of Giaccherini but in times of crisis when you buy you must also make sacrifices."
One thing that stands out for me and its something we never do and QPR certainly never did. Is that we have these lads in early, share a pre season together and build up a knowledge of each others game, so time to gel soon
