You have every reason to doubt it grumpygit...I refer you to my new signature. That's if that minxy does not go messing about again - lol - hire an additional supermod to help me out on the site and it's like a kid with a new toy!
Good signing, great options up top. No one moaning we have signed him, plenty were bored of all the speculation, more so on Twitter!
Gregory will have to start. Very good defensive mid, but because he doesn't stand out, and does a quiet job in the middle of the park in front of the back four ,he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Before anyone starts getting on his back, because he doesn't score an occasional goal, just watch what he does, he's like a younger David Wright and everyone liked him, but because he was brought in because Wright left, some fans seem to dislike him.
Cant See MA playing Bayo and Kedwell in the same team, more likely to play Gregory or Weston in place of one of them, and who's to say that all our business is finished. As for MacDonald great to see him back hope he can finally prove that he can score goals on a regular basis at this level, and there is no such thing as a free transfer, I am sure that this cost us more than any other transaction so far this summer, buying him out of his old contract wont have come cheap.
I expect that the team will be like this Nelson Fish Legge Barrett Martin Gregory Whelpdale Linganzi Allen Kedwell/Bayo McDonald I think that we will rotate with Bayo and Kedwell like we did with Burton and Kedwell. Also for the left side of midfield I think we will see Allen, Dack and Weston rotating.
Yeah I think he is a very intelligent player, needs to work on his confidence but I think some of the fans are the cause of his lack of confidence. I think his confidence improved later in the season when he started to gel into the team but I think he could be a very good player and someone that in a few years we will look back at and say look how much he has improved as I think he has a good future.
I still wouldn't write Birchall off just yet as he's been doing pretty well in pre season. Competition for places is healthy and coverage for vulnerable places makes good sense.....
If we got Cody on a free then that has to be one of Scally's best deals and he and Allen deserve full credit. I just hope that Cody doesn't have a Birchall/King type injury in preseason However despite getting the ol' partnership back I still think we are a little light up front. Birchall will be gone even if it's a season loan deal and it looks like Burton won't be staying either so that leaves us with Kedwell, German, Bayo and Cody where Bayo is the only one with League 1 experience. We still need some defensive cover and maybe another midfielder but I wouldn't be surprised if at least one more striker came in before the window shuts.
I don't think another striker is needed as that is good enough and with Weston who can play upfront as well then that means we have enough cover upfront. I think that if there is anywhere that we need to have more cover for that is midfield as we are a bit light in midfield and also defence is a bit light however I don't think that we do need to bring in anyone else in defence as we have a lot of younger players who can come through and cover. I think 1 or 2 midfielders is all that we need, they could be on loan or permanent, don't really matter.
I hope all this pressure does become too much for Cody, he is being held up as some form of superhero and saviour. Remember he is not the messiah, he is just a naugh... football player
It nevered fazed him when he came back for that short spell last season so I doubt it will now. The thing is, he's loved by our fan's so even if he missed a few sitters no-one will get on his back
I hope people don't get on his back as this is a harder league so I for one am not expecting 20 goals next season, I think anything around 15 will be fine as long as the other strikers contribute over 10.
Good Lord chaps! Christmas has come early this year. After all this time I am starting to believe in Santa Claus again.
I'm not as excited as some of you about signing Cody. He's really only proven himself at Div 2 level and was a flop at Coventry. We will have to wait and see.........
I think we will find that he will do well for us as he fits into our team but he didn't at Coventry. You have to look at our team and say how many of the attacking players are proven at this level and the answer is not many, however we still have faith that they will all come good and will be good enough and the same goes for Cody, I think that he may not be the best player at this level and he may not hit 25 goals or anything like that, however I still think that he will be our top scorer next season. We just have to have faith in him and the rest of the team and I think that they will do well. I think that we will finish somewhere around 12th-14th however you never know they may surprise us and do even better and push for the play offs.
