Morning Everyone, Welcome to another scorcher from Southampton please log in to view this image Matt Mills, it seems, has pledged his undying love for Bolton. That that one dead in the water then. Thoughts? McDermott wants Leeds to be one of the best passing sides in the division. Speaking on the official website , McDermott said, 'We want to be one of the best passing teams in this division, but pass with a purpose and an end product, and get into areas where we can hurt teams, and that's what we'll be looking for in the three games here.' If we stand a chance of promotion, we need an out and out goalscorer, someone that can bang in 25 goals a season at this level. When you look at our forwards McCormack, Smith, Diouf, Poleon and Hunt can we realistically expect any of them to get double figures....
Morning lads Glad the Matt Mills deal is dead in the water, he's decent but terribly overrated. I'm sure there's better out there. As for being a passing side, it's about time! When was the last time we had a good passing team...
Morning all - Not a chance we have a 25 goal man in that lot unless it is the unknown talent of Poleon - It isn't just the lack of a natural goal scorer; it is how many decent balls our current midfield can get to them??
McCormack is capable of getting 20 in this league - he's proven it before. But if he's going to be moved back into the midfield as the point of the diamond, can't see him getting more than 10...
Good moaning I hear a whisper that we will be signing one decent player shortly. No idea who only that he has a good rep? Hope its true, but even if if it isn't I still have a good feeling about this season. Don't think we have the quality to go all the way, but damn sure we'll beat last seasons dire league position. I'm liking this manager, not because he thinks he's Revie or Clough, but because he quietly just gets on with it behind the scenes, and bigs his players up. He knows how to get the best out of average, and knows how to organise a unit so that it performs like a team. He can spot talent and has said he has been watching our new big lad for ages and he thinks we've got a diamond. I hope he's right because we do need a goal scorer and this league hasn't seen our big lad before. He knows his kids and how and when to bring them on and I think all our squad want to do well for him. Different than last year, when the boss told us he was better than Revie and only played route 1 football. He didn't like our kids only his old mates, and the players hated him for being a mouthy twat who never took the blame for anything.
Morning all, don't know who will score all our goals. But if we're playing footy on the floor and either Poleon, Hall or AN Other is providing the crosses, we should be able to score plenty. Any idea what time the game kicks off tonight (UK time)?
Upson might be worth a shout, although the only thing I remember him for was that god awful performance vs Germany at the world cup in 2010
But how many teams actually win anything anyway? If were going to be like 99% of clubs and win nothing, we might as well look good doing it. Like Spurs maybe As for someone mentioning Dunne, forget it. Not getting younger and having spent a full year on the treatment table, hes exactly what we dont want
The kick-off times for both tonight’s friendly and next Tuesday’s match against Ferencvaros have been moved at the last minute from 6.30pm to 6pm local time, or 5pm BST. The scheduling for Saturday’s 7.45pm start remains unchanged.
Although its clear we are still a bit short of quality I keep telling myself that Warnock managed to finish a mere 7 points off the playoffs. Consider: better manager, fitter team, not losing games in the last 15 minutes like we did last season, plus some of the additions working out, and its not unreasonable to tell yourself a playoff place is possible. Yes I know auto is the target but a) a playoff place is at least interesting compared to wallowing in mid table, and b) if we are in the top 6 at Christmas, just maybe...............
Under Warnock: why play 20 passes when one long ball gets the same result Heres a good question for you all: Our new big lad or Luciano I have a feeling the new kid is better
Fair point Eire (my comment was slightly tongue in cheek). Cheers Alf. Will be interesting to see just how fit the team really are 2020. When dear old Dennis was in charge, we started the -15 season like a team possessed and were beating other teams in the last 15 minutes because of superior fitness. If we turn out to be so much fitter than others this season, what else does that say about how cr^p Warnock was last season? The more I look at it, the more I start to think this really could be our season. In BMD I trust. MOT
Time will tell Doc. But Becchio definitely worked for the team. This new lad will be a big hit if we can get wingers or people out wide to cross the ball onto his head in and around the 6 yard line. He may not score himself, but he looks more than capable of teeing it up for on-rushing midfielders such as McCormack at the head of the diamond.
At least Smith will win headers without falling over. I loved Becchio and it's not his fault we played long ball, but it got boring after the third time he jumped, lost the header and subsequently fell over...
Listening to the new lad, he seems brighter than average, if he uses that to work out how to help the team (I take it as a given he'll be good when the ball whizzes towards his head) we may have a find. Then again, he may be useless, but at least there's scope to have a cup half full feeling at the moment. On a more important point, I am deciding which if Ellands four "thoughts for the day" I'd pick if a) I was only allowed one of them and b) I was indeed allowed to pick one (somewhat unlikely, that, but anyway) At the moment I think number 3 is winning, but number 1 might sway me. I will have to keep cogitating
Morning all!! Still can't help feeling Becchio was a loss when we let him go, but then again Colin is Colin for a reason. We badly need a centre back, still feel another striker will help. McD is showing us his way of doing things - which is thorough attention to detail. Playoffs? Why the heck not!!
