I have been a very sceptical poster regarding my feelings as to whether PDC is the long term answer for us and there are good arguments on both sides. However, even I am amazed at the level of work that has been done this summer and the 6 new faces in already with possibly 3 or 4 still to come? Its breathtaking tbh. I see the latest 2 could be Peruzzi (I know little about but have read so many itk pundits who rate this kid highly) and now the lad Emanuele Giaccherini who I do know more about from Champs League with Juve and and Italy where he is a terrific footballer (I just cant believe we could get him). I still have a gut feeling Danny Rose will be the final piece of the jigsaw and certainly another striker is in the offing along with Peruzzi but we have done a lot of work in the last few weeks to get to this point so far. So, is PDC making the difference, or is it the new backroom set up thats getting these deals done so quickly? Since we appointed Robert de Fanti as our director of football and Valentino Angelino as our chief scout we seem to be operating in a different league when it comes to recruitment and with this, our entire scouting and targets have changed massively. Its exciting, scary and intriguing all at the same time and I am really looking forward to seeing how this all pans out but this has to be one of the most incredible close seasons in living memory? Roll on and FTM Paolo
The main concern I have is these people scout teams to play in the Italian leagues. Do these players fit in with the Prem' style and how much so our new guys know about the prem?
According to Twitter (I know I know) we are very, very close to getting Giaccherini. I dont know much about him tbh honest but the chat coming from Italy says he's class and he's ours. To answer your question. A big yes from me. It's been along time since the close season felt this long.
We are also linked with Alessandro Matri from Juve Anyone seen him play or know if he is any good. This is the most excited I've ever been as a sunderland fan
@SAFCsource: After closing in on Giaccherini, Sunderland have made a move for his Juventus teammate Alessandro Matri. http://t.co/M3mBisAQJC #SAFC Fook me it's all happening! It's even got me writing swear words down (sort of). Ellis for me as well. The guy truly has the best interests of the club at heart not like the fat barrow boy up the road. This plan is exciting and I for one buy into it. PDC is a big draw as well and the new back room staff seem to know their stuff. Fooking marvellous ( there I go again).
It is mate..And even if it all goes tits up (which it wont) PDC and Ellis have certainly put us on the map
I think ES has finally took control. He is showing he knows his football as well as business and is now taking us to the next level. This scouting network have some clout or are well connected with a few Sicilians as I never expected the level of signing we appear to be getting. Might not produce much next season but the season after that should be bloody good when these players have a years EPL experience
@SAFCsource: Sunderland are also considering moves for Osvaldo and Leandro Damiao. http://t.co/A7zYeW09jM #SAFC I can't cope! I needs a cup of tea and ibuprofen. Come On!!!!
This is the magic-carpet ride that Roy Keane promised us and it seems,to me,that PDC and Mr Ellis are delivering that magic ride!
Think it's about conditioning. And that's right up PDC's street. They'll be shell shocked at first no doubt, but just look at how vastly improved N'Diaye became when Paolo turned up with his double sessions. Alfie even admitted he had been finding it tough, cue Paolo. Everything is looking spot on in my view, to the point my only scepticism will be in the form of Paolo's decision making tactically. Don't doubt his ability as a coach and I understand he's unproven so he will make tactical mistakes, so by the same merret as new players finding their feet I think the same applies to paolo. Best of luck to to the new players and Paolo on their new challenging journey and to the rest of the squad who are also facing a very different way of life. May it click quickly and you'll have my loyal obedient support.
It seems that it started with a friendship based on mutual respect between Ellis Short and de Fanti. This much does seems clear. Short was unhappy with the club's product and lack of vision. His friendship with de Fanti germinated into a plan to build a club thru completely different channels than the past, where SAFC had a clear advantage over the rest of the league (Italy and the scouting connections in South America). Short and de Fanti concocted a plan, which is presently unfolding before everyone's eyes, that required all the pieces presently in place. A group of very wise and knowledgeable men, working towards the same goal with clear objectives. The dismissal of MoN had to come first, and PDC was waiting in the wings. All the remaining pieces dropped shortly thereafter. They have found a new "market efficiency" the other clubs have yet to consider.
Those two will certainly not come off. Having brought in Altidore, we now have: Fletcher Altidore Graham - Out Wickham Ji - Out Sess (not strictly a striker but he'd play in place of a striker) Leaving potential for one more striker (Paolo says he wants 5), Matri is much more likely than the other, much better two.
"@tancredipalmeri: Leandro Damiao has been prized 25m € by Internacional, against the 18m € bid from Napoli, according to Sky Italy" That's one already crossed off. No way we're paying that.
it was weeks ago, came from SNQ alledgedly, £18m player agreed but no name given, ring any bells? if not, read all threads!
