Nothing to do with Norwich, but I'd be interested to hear what you guys think of Swansea shelling out £13mil for Bony! That's a lot of money, and he is probably well worth it, I just can't believe the Swans have stumped up that sort of cash!
they have all that money they got from liverpool, so good for them, i think its a great investment, the guy could be worth twice that in a year. hopefully he'll be 2nd to RVW as best newcoming striker
Is that the money from the the Allen deal? I forgot they paid £15mil for him! That's pretty solid reinvestment! Haven't seen much of Bony but heard he is a real talent. Hopefully The Wolf will hog the limelight though!
If you look at their signings so far a lot of them haven't been for much money (one or two of them are freebies), so they can afford to spunk £13mill on one player. Plus The Bank of Liverpool has helped them out too.
Blimey! Liverpool might as well've just bought Swansea 2 players and saved all the fuss in-between! Just watched a collection of Bony goals, seems like a pretty good player, though a lot of his goals were just finishing off the good work of the players around him. I guess that's what Swansea need.
Was listening to a report earlier that said Bony is the real deal. It sounds like he is money well spent, we will see. Hope Ricky turns out to be a gem too. Lots of behind the scenes activity for us at the moment, i expect by the end of the week we will have 2 or 3 more in
McNally on twitter a couple of days ago seemed to suggest we were close to another couple of signings, and he wasn't sure which would be confirmed first.
£13m is a lot of money for a club like swansea to spend but bony is an absolute beast. i don't think he'll have the same impact over here as he had at vitesse, but i think he'll be a hit - he's a player i'd have loved to see us in the market for but he was far too expensive. swansea are being run very intelligently like ourselves - it's good to see. i keep hearing fans of clubs like everton and newcastle complaining that the swans and canaries are able to pay big fees yet their teams aren't - it's because we're debt free folks! i also like jozy altidore who has just signed for sunderland. yes he struggled at hull a few years ago but he's matured as a player a lot since then and i think he's a player i would have liked here. not been impressed with the black cats work so far this summer and i think di canio is as mad as a march hare. i think they'll be in serious trouble of they make a dodgy start, but altidore does at least seem a decent buy
Swansea have got de Guzman on loan again which is another hell of a signing for them. Michu bagged the goals and all the headlines last year, but from what I saw of them de Guzman was just as important to them. I'm amazed Villareal loaned him out again, seem bizarre to me that does, he's a great player.
Di Canio appears to have already alienated a lot of the old guard, with lots of players asking to leave. He's not going to sign enough players in one window to replace them all, so he'll either have a paper-thin squad next year, or a lot of very unhappy reserves. Going to be interesting to watch!
Bony is presumably the replacement for Graham. And incidentally, on the theme of who or what counts as a striker or forward nowadays, I liked Laudrup's description of Michu the other day: "a midfielder who scores lots of goals"! That's what we need IMO, 2 if possible (as opposed to 2 more strikers). Or 1 of each, because I'm not entirely sure that RvW couldn't be more correctly described as "a midfielder who scores lots of goals".
And 5.5m for Graham... Oh and 6.2m for Sinclair! Chuffed were getting him but in no way did we spend what we dont have to do it. Glad you guys can see that too. Good luck!
Two well run clubs, both going places. There was some talk of Michu being targetted by Arsenal and others. Have you heard any more on that?
As far as I'm aware it's all paper talk. We've been linked to everyone under the sun so far this summer so I'll take most of what I read with a pinch of salt. I think they really wanted ash Williams though but weren't willing to match our valuation of him of 10m... Going by that I doubt very much they will match michus valuation How about you guys? Saw you signed that striker - don't wanna embarrass myself with a poor attempt at his name.. Van....golfswinkle?? Damn! Hah - but I know he's a fantastic signing! Big hopes for this guy or?
Yeah, with our talisman Holt gone, there's a lot of expectation on Wolfwinkel now to come in and more than take over. Since we've known about his arrival since about February, a few of us watched several games he played with his old club Sporting Lisbon, and I think we were in general pretty impressed. I think we're a little concerned about starting this season without a striker who's scored in the Prem though.
To date: Van Wolfswinkel, Garrido (a loanee last season), Nathan Redmond, Martin Olssen. We are believed to be close to signing Leroy Fer, but not official. With Grant Holt gone, we of course anticipate a replacement, possible Hooper who we have been after since January; but again nothing definite as yet.
you have had the best years of what holt had to offer so its a good move to let him go imho. wolf looks better..
