True, we could always go for a flash **** like Ince and the like in Haye? Chisora would fit right in as well.

    Iago Aspas personal honours:
    Zarra Trophy (Segunda División): 2011–12
    Best Forward (Segunda División): 2011–12

Luis Alberto doesn't even have a Wiki entry so apparently has won everything Brendan's won, i.e. all of the ****.

And yes, Kenny wanted players who fitted Shanks' definition of a Liverpool player: "Willing to run through a brick wall and come out fighting on the other side." Invariably, Brits get that better than Johnny Feriner, or as the media would say, "Understand what the club means to the fans."

Because England is the only country where the clubs mean something to the fans?
That line's as dated as the one about 'knowing the club'...
Plenty of foreign players work hard for the cause just the same as plenty of British players can't be arsed giving a **** for it. The reason for the trend in British usually caring more is because, surprise surprise, they've been brought up supporting the very same teams.

Aspas played for a ****e team, no wonder he's got no medals. Doesn't make him any worse a signing, thousands of players start off from lowly teams and work upwards. Getting fed up of people criticising some of our signings just because they a, didn't cost 20million or b, they've never heard of them. Sorry, I wasn't aware players were only good if you'd heard of them. Who'd heard of Ronaldo before he went to United? Who'd heard of Hyypia before he came here? Henry was a nobody before Arsenal.

Admitedly, the 'winner' line is a little bizare, but a fighter he certainly is.

Then he failed miserably because downing and Carroll certainly don't fit that criteria - 55 million pounds worth of responsibility shifters.

Well said that man, as a Manc i will use the obviouse example to back you up on this "you win nowt with kids", you only find out how good players really are if they get into the right team at the right time. A manager only buys players he thinks can do the job he want`s them to do, we as supporters should back our managers judgement and hope every signing will turn out to be the next world beater, if we are lucky we will get the odd top class player who takes the team up a level.
