Mine did too, wed play fight all the time. He was laid back all the time unless another dog tried to hurt him, someone tried to hurt me or anyone entered the property without me. He once stopped eight guys from jumping me in the street. I've always found its the little dogs that will try and bite, the big dogs don't unless there's a very good reason or they've been I'll treated.
I used to have a chocolate & tan doberman bitch. She was such an intelligent and loyal dog. She could also be very gentle as well as protective. One night I heard a prowler in the garden, she heard him too. She ran at the back door in the kitchen, hit it and took it clean off its hinges. She cornered the bloke and kept him there until the police arrived and nicked him. On another night, my wife was walking her in the park. It was dark and my wife heard a rustle in the bushes. My dog Ziggy leapt into them, my wife heard a scream and saw a figure running away into the darkness. All she could see was the glow of this persons cigarette fading into the pitch black as they ran for their life. Great animal is the dobie.

Exactly and the best think is, they dont even have to be trained to do that, its all natural. I used to leave the back door open 7 months a year because I knew no one would ever get into the garden, never mind the house alive. Even the cats stopped using the walls.
According to my Mrs I'd be a worm, spineless and generally useless. Given the choice I'd be a Slow Loris, no one can help but fall in love with such a cute creature. You Tube it if you've never seen one.
