Morning - just thought we should take a look at the odds on Scott Sinclair having come in to 1/4 today. Not often you see that kind of drop, so could this be the Summer's first signing?

Superb if true, guess we're pretty adamant about buying a speedster (Tom Ince was a high priority according to David Craig), which would seem to suggest that Jonas is dropping down to squad player and Benny is being looked after better.

Seems almost nailed on that we'll be bringing in a CB and CF too, so I'm quietly optimistic this morning.

I'd be very pleased if we did sign Sinclair. He's the sort of player we need and he won't need time to adjust to the style of football.

This would be a good signing. I would be very happy if he was to sign. He is young fast and proven premiership quality player.

I never did understand why he went to Manchester City.

Let me note though that he is not an out and out striker but.

Him, Cisse and Hatem on the right side would be a potent strikeforce with the right midfield.

Good business if we get him!

Be nice to get some pace and trickery into the side. English too. Hopefully his arrival will see Obertan depart.

Wasn't Colin starting it - this was based on a significant number of bets. Sky "guessing" or trying to encourage bets usually gets to around 2/1 (Cabaye or Ben Arfa to PSG/Monaco, for example). Sky panicking because they don't want to pay out is when it gets to 1/4, and usually means there's a lot more to it.

That said, I'm guessing he's not the much-mooted striker, is he? Maybe he is, not sure how I'd feel if we didn't then pick up a strong-in-the-air CF, even though I like this lad. Thought he was far and away the best and most consistent of the Swansea crowd (Routledge, Dyer, Allen, etc.) so a good buy, but alongside both maybe Giroud (maybe surplus, with Suarez heading to Arsenal....) or Gameiro and Rhys Williams or even Tompkins if we have to would be a cracking Summer.

Would be a good move. Nothing special, but an improvement on what we have.

I wouldn't be paying over the odds though, not worth any more than say £3million!

I really hope there is something to it. I would be disappointed if we didn't get at least 1 out and out striker as well.

If we get Sinclair I wouldn't be surprised if we went for Bent (though I'd much prefer the quality of player you are suggesting) with the idea of 2 players for each position and Bent competing with Cisse for the lone striker role in that 4-2-3-1 formation. HBA/Sinclair/Gouffran/Marv for the left and right AM, Cabaye/Sissoko/Marv central AM, Tiote/Cabaye/Anita/Sissoko CM... If that is the plan then we could do with another body in for the AM and/or CM roles so we don't have too many players covering multiple positions. Someone like Siem de Jong for the number 10 role would be great.

Would be a good signing, good option on the wing and can play through the middle but I think (like everyone else) we still need an out and out striker.

When this type of rumor starts we usually come out a few hours later via lee Ryder saying there is no truth in it whatsoever. Hope I'm wrong.

We've also got Vuckic coming back. If he can stay injury free this'll be a big season for the lad

That's true. He's been injured so long I'd forgotten about him. Whether he can stay fit must be a big if though.

Nothing from Lee Ryder or Mark Douglas yet. They must be looking into it! What makes this slightly more hopeful is that there have not been any media fabricated stories linking us to Sinclair to drive the betting so there is a chance the money has been put on it by genuine 'in the knows'.

Indeed bookies are often a good indicator. Not so much when it comes to managerial appointments, but on just about anything else. They don't like losing. Usually takes a significant bet to move something heavily. On that basis alone I think there is more to it than anything club sauces like Mark "barbecue" Douglas or Lee "Tomato" Ryder might offer.
