<peacedove>Liverpool agree to sell Jay Spearing to Blackburn for £1.5million

Liverpool have agreed to sell home-grown star Jay Spearing to Blackburn Rovers in a £1.5million deal.

Boss Brendan Rodgers will let midfield dynamo Spearing leave and the Kop have struck a payment plan with Rovers.

Now Blackburn’s Indian owners Venkys are under pressure to push through the move quickly - although they may have to sell a player first to complete.

Rovers want Spearing to fill the gap left by Danny Murphy, but they were expecting cash from Martin Olsson’s move to Norwich to pay for his replacement.

Olsson is yet to finalise personal terms on a £2.5 million switch to the Canaries. The alternative is for Venkys to find the Spearing funds from their own pockets.

Despite his work rate, he will sadly never be good enough for us and probably not good enough for the league as a whole. We really do need a presence in midfield to compete with Lucas.

£1.5m isn't bad when you consider he was an OK back up for a player of lucas' caliber

Shame in a way, local lad and all.

But we need better quality in that position and it's a little more cash in.

    Good luck to him.

Result, clearly surplus to requirements so not a bad fee and we get rid of his wages too.

Agree that we need to be looking at getting another def/holding midfielder.

He's small and controls with his shin..

I'm a broken man right now. Luckily, my family have rallied around and given me strength in this troublesome time. We've been looking for properties nearer Blackburn so we can be nearer the Bald Headed Spearo and currently, a midnight, candle-lit ceremony is being arranged for July 14th outside Melwood. All are welcome.

Lad was a solid player for us, nothing special, but solid. Got alot of unfair stick from supposed supporters of the club.

Can't wait til FM14 comes out - first thing I'll be doing is re-signing him <ok>

Spearing could do better than Blackburn, I think he could do a good job at a lower PL club like Hull, Stoke or Chelsea. But I remember when he went to Bolton he turned down a PL offer to avoid having to move his family across the country.

  20. I actually think this is a really good move for him and one that he should have really made two or three years ago, i think he will grow (not in height) now <ok>
