Good luck to the big man I say If Wigan is to be his home, With Europa League on the way Who knows, he may yet visit Rome A born leader with a big heart He´s done us proud in his time here, Without him playing such a part I doubt we´d be in the top tier His will be some big boots to fill But before we start feeling too hurt, Van Wolf more than does fit the bill To take on the number 9 shirt Time waits for no man we know And he found the going more tough, Last year, but he´ll have one last throw As legends are made of such stuff He deserves whatever he gets And though I´d have liked him to stay, Not just for the goals that he nets Each ´football´ dog does have his day. Bonne chance Holty!
Well said RBF, we will most definitely miss him but good luck to him getting a move nearer home! Holty, we thank you from the bottom of out hearts!
Will be sad to see Holt leave, however maybe better now rather than later when we can still get a decent transfer fee for him. Holt will always be remembered as a legend for the club and the great memories like his goals against Ipswich and his celebrations. One concern I do have is that from videos I have watched of Ricky Van Wolfwinkel 99% of the goals were from shots not headers. So, I reckon we definitely require to bring in another striker who is strong in the air and can bully defences. I don't see Wolfwinkel as a bully boy striker who will score lots of headed goals. Hopefully, I am wrong though!
It might be worth giving young Carlton Morris a chance next season in first team, as he is a physical striker. Not saying to play him every week but to try him out and see how he goes. Still expect us to buy at least 1 more striker before the season starts.
Just seen this... As we all know, Holty is a fat cheating **** of a striker who's conned no end of refs into giving pens and/or decisions in your favour, but you know what? Despite being seen as something of the Antichrist by most of our lot, I kind of liked him, or at least respected him. A real character in an age where such characters are sadly missing in today's game, and a charismatic captain to boot, he'll go down in East Anglian football folklore alongside the likes of Forbes, Keelan etc as one we loved to hate... You're gonna miss him, and I kind of wish him well, all too few characters like him about anymore. At least we get the chance to pay our respects to him once again at Portman Rd next season!
I don't doubt it! As we are too! (I already accept that he will score against us, it just has to happen! )
A true great of our club, and will always be welcome to the area with open arms. He has done himself proud for what he has done at this club and he can leave the club with his head held high. I would love to see him grace the CR turf one last time even in opponent colours for one final send off cause he fully deserves it. BUT at least he will be able to realise one more ambition next season, shame it wasn't with us... European football, and he deserves it Good luck Grant
