Very True!! But The NHS only funded because of the heavy taxes from the Government. But the pub trade hasn't died because of the smoking ban, it's the greedy breweries taking all the profits and then not supporting the landlords. Bars such as NU Bar on Kingston Rd in Willerby has a fantastic outside area, allowing people to smoke and it doesn't seem to cause a problem I admit. ( Actually that's just a plug for the NU Bar)!!
It's obviously very addictive, so I have sympathy for those who are addicted. I reckon if I ever tried smoking I'd get addicted easily and find it hard to stop. Thankfully though I won't. I just can't understand for the life of me why anyone would start smoking, and train themselves to enjoy it the first few times. Years ago when there was less awareness fair enough.
This explains why some of you older guys spend so much time on here.Creates a lot of work for the rest of us blokes looking after your missus. Apart from impotence, copd there is little short of a loaded gun that kills like cigs. You are also a **** example to your off spring and other youngsters so for that alone it must be stopped.
That's what I mean, if I was born 35 years ago I probably would have taken up smoking at some point like everyone else. But what I don't understand is why people my age still do it now.
All they serve on the concourse is sugar, fat and alcohol, you don't complain about that. Smokings a choice, not a wise one admittedly but it's hypocritical to not allow it but then be completely compliant with the other major killers.
Gentlemen, When I first read the article/link above I was overjoyed. 2 hours to the airport, 8 hour flight to Manchester, 2 hours by train to Hull and the KC for a match....eternity for a smoker I think I have never seen a thread on this forum so much in harmony...the odd "humorous" dig, but in the main, sensibly anti-smoking. As a smoker for over 57 years ( why am I still alive ? Dreaming of Hull City getting into Europe someday I suppose !). Educate the kids, reinforce to those who have never succummed to such a destructive, expensive, anti-social, obnoxious habit. But you know, any help we smoking addicts can get, the more I relish it. In all seriousness - reject the proposed plan. A couple of hours without access to a designated smoking area will not kill you. No doubt the 10 minutes at half time may well do should the proposed plan be adopted ! Sermon over !!
It's not cool, it's proper daft and I'm glad my kids are so anti-smoking, but after 35 years of practise, it's one of the few things I'm any good at...
stopping smoking is good for you maybe there should be an alternative initiative Considering Footballers a plonked on a pedestal and burned alive if they so much as fart in public as "they are setting an example to our children" i wonder how many of those Dads say that with *** in mouth ?
I couldn,t give a monkeys if people smoke or not they are old and daft enough to make all their life choices, but what I object to is trying to take a piss at half time and nearly passing out with the amount of smoke in the air. I dont want your smoke in my lungs, so I agree there should be somewhere for the smokers to enjoy their ***s just to help save the non smoking fans.
According to this article there are now designated smoking areas at the stadium. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....tory-19655359-detail/story.html#axzz2Yd4tWOPC
I agree with you on the smoking in the toilets, particularly when my son goes for a piss at half time and is forced to breathe in other peoples smoke. I said on another thread recently that I used to be a heavy smoker, but even I could go 2 hours without a cig when at City
Tbf I've got better, I enjoy the game too much to notice. But there are people out there who need to smoke every 10 minutes or they go mad.
