Provocative article on BBC website?

Thanks for you contribution to the thread and thoughts on the original piece.

 

From the perspective of someone who has lived in the middle east for 3 years the article was shallow and contributed no depth or insight.

 

I really can't see how not eating for 18 hours whilst training and playing will not harm the performance of an elite level sportsperson. Obviously the clubs pretty much have to accommodate them but I would not be happy if I was paying someone to do a job and they were deliberately harming their own performance.

 

Am I missing something?

It is not that long ago that some Englsh sportsmen refused to compete on Sundays.

This is pretty much why these types of threads aren't meant to be allowed on this forum.

 

As recently as the 1970s, Sunday football was a no-no. Ditto shopping!

 

But that's why you will never employ anyone.

but seriously, give examples of the top muslim players and it doesn't effect them.. however ramadan ends before the season starts this year so

Agro has pointed out it's a strange article, which it definitely is.

The "everyone's racist" brigade are of course attracted to that comment like moths to a flame because the story is about Islam. Agro isn't offering any opinion whatsoever on any religion here.

 

I'm still trying to figure out how its "provocative" (or even strange to be honest)
