Okay I'm going to admit I'm pretty clueless on this one at the moment. 4 at the back, I've no idea who they will be but I think we will play a back four. 2 holding midfielders or left half and right half in old money. Depending on the comings and goings we certainly at the moment can play two holding midfielders. 2 wingers AJ and another In the hole? Fletcher/sess, new player Centre forward bringing in Altidore so who starts upfront if we play this system. Is it 4 at the back, one holding midfielder one in the hole 2 strikers and 2 wingers Maybe a holding midfielder inside and outside left and rights with a striker. Will we go 4-4-2? How many more are coming in? How many more are going out?
something like this imo ...................Westwood Peruzzi.......JOS.......Brown.........Rose .................Hudlestone AJ.................N'Daiye.............Zarate ............Altidore.......Fletcher OR ....................Westwood Cavanda.....Diakete.....JOS........Mendy ...................Unknown AJ................Unknown.........Marivas ...................Altidore ...................Fletch OR ...................Rowell Rowell........Rowell...Rowell......Rowell Rowell........Rowell...Rowell......Rowell ................Rowell...Rowell
I'd scrap the winger idea and go with inside forwards with wing backs 4-2-3-1 or as it's also known 433/451
Based on what we kind of have in squad now and pending deals. .....................Westwood...................... Peruzzi.....oshea....roberge.........rose ...................cabral..Ndayie................. Johnson.........Fletcher..................sess ......................Altidore.......................... Mannone Diakite Cuellar Brown Colback Gardner Larsson Karlsson Cattermole McClean (Greek dude) Graham Wickham All squad players.
Can't see fletch playing there in a hundred million years. I can't see him dropping deep and running at defenders. The main problem last season for me was the inability to connect defence with attack, with fletch there I think it would make the problem worse.
.....................Westwood..................... . Peruzzi.....oshea....roberge/Diakite......rose ...................cabral..Ndayie.................... Johnson............Zarate...................sess ......................Fletcher.................... ....
...................Rowell Rowell........Rowell...Rowell......Rowell Rowell........Rowell...Rowell......Rowell ................Rowell...Rowell Nee chance...Rowell's crap in goal
I think he'd do well in the role, his first touch and link up play was great last season, and he'd harder to mark with Altidore taking the heat off him. He and Altidore could interchange at any time too as could sess and Johnson which could give the opposition headache.
Would a signing like Zarate change things for you? I think Fletch will still hold the ball up as a lone striker with inside forwards an an attacking midfielder around him. Wing backs overlapping and hitting the byline of course. We'll be playing much much higher up the pitch than we've ever been used to
