I think you're forgetting we use apostrophes in the Premier League. How is life in the lower leagues these days?
It's not a contradiction to point out reality. You can pay a lot or very little for successes. When you come down to specific players I am saying that I would rather pay two or three times as much for a player who has a very good chance of being a success (eg. Bent) than a player who is much more of a risk (eg. Proschwitz). Just comparing Swansea and QPR you can see what is possible. I doubt Swansea will stick to the model all the time though.
Folan was a total wimp and awkward but not bad at putting the ball in the net when he got the chance.
I think I came up with those statistics a few years ago as well. It was an incredible investment at the time - and they all paid off!
Halmosi may have been a flop, but most were delighted that we had gone for him at the time. Some players just don't work out I guess
That's absolutely true, he was one of the best players in the Championship when we signed him, he just didn't make the step up. Same thing happened with Parky as manager. Such is life.
Probably because when we bought him, he looked a fantastic player. But was sadly never good enough for the Prem.
Yes. There was a Coca-Cola competition when they sponsored the football league. You got special codes on every bottle of coke to win money for your club, and a City fan got the jackpot one which was worth something like £250k.
I was the Hull City representative for that competition. I was in the daft team photo wearing a City shirt and I have an even dafter pictue of me shaking hands with Chris Kamara with a giant cheque. And no, I'm not posting either.
That's a myth. The bang on his head was on his debut and he scored all of his goals after that. He had a good 07/08 season after coming back but lost his bottle at some point early on in the PL days.
brown made turner look a lot better then he was . pity brown had no pace he was a good footballer him & turner were good together
Interesting comparison. City got 3 for the price of one....and our 3 lads scored a shed load more, every season they played. Lets hope SB has the same insight for this season.
Which begs this question from my husband. " To which club did Hull City reportedly offer a then world record transfer fee for one of it's players which was rejected. Two years later, however, the move was completed at a fee just under 30% lower than the earlier offer?"
Caleb Folan did a job. He played a vital part to our Promotion success (9 goals wasn't it?). He was a bit of wimp but he scored some quality goals. His best or most significant would be: WBA (Championship - The Hawthorns) Watford (Play-Off Semi Final 2nd Leg - KC Stadium) Fulham (Premier League - KC Stadium)
Folan did a decent job for us in the promotion year. Goals like west brom and Coventry were massive to our season. Just a shame he never kicked on really.
