I rate this years Eclipse as a good but not great renewal. At the end of the day you have the Royal Ascot 1m and 1m2f group one winners and the group one winning The Fugue as well as a highly promising 3 year old in Mars who looks like he's been crying out for the step up in trip. I took Mars during the week at 11/2 fora point. I don't think you can be ultra confident about any of this field so I've gone for the one horse who could be a lot better than he's been able to show so far. I wouldn't back him at the 9/2 best price that's available now. My main bet tomorrow is a strong plunge on Caucas at 9/4 in the 4.25 at Sandown. Strong Estimate form. Good jockey. Great staying stable. I'm wearing my punting pants again.
cheers for the heads up. will definitely be having as much on as they will let me, which probably wont be loads. looking at there website it looks like it will be 11:30am they lay it.
ah right, on the price boosts info it say's the 3:50 is at 11:30, but they might be boosting another horse in the race.
Wentworth - Played poker this week with a guy who has connections to the hannon 3yos. He said only thing stopping it being a lump Job is the wide draw but he still sounded very confident and won't be putting me off betting at 9/2.
All about Al Kazeem for me too. I will be helping myself to the 3/1 and will top up at 9/4 for a man size bet. Fancy Mukhadram to follow him home again so will have a small play on the FC too.
2 lucky 15's tomorrow. Sandown,1-30=Plover. " " " " 3-15=Woodland Aria. " " " " 3-50=The Fugue. " " " " 4-25=Caucus. " " " " 2-05=Duke Of Firenze. Haydock, 2-55=Wannabe Loved. " " " " 3-30=Opinion. Sandown, 5-00=Circus Turn. Good luck to all.
I would expect the Eclipse to go to Pastorius, The Fugue or Al Kazeem, dependent on which has improved the most. A line through Dunaden gives Pasrorius a decent chance against Al Kazeem etc (see postings on Eclipse thread including response to QuarterMoonII ). Al Kazeem looks good this year. Gosden's record of improving horses from 3 yrs to 4 yrs gives hope. Aren't German 3 yr old horses generally considered to be less mature than their British/French counterparts back home & expected to improve at 4 yrs (Any views OddDog?)
I think this is going to be ideal for Mars....i backed him in the derby and he should have been placed. Also unlucky in the st james palace...1 mile 2f and a stiff finish will be ideal here and with ryan moore on top in what could be a tactical race.. im on. 11/2 price taken . e.w
Al Kazeem 11/10 Declaration Of War 7/1 The Fugue 15/2 Pastorius 8/1 Mars 9/1 Mukhadram 10/1 Miblish 500/1
After hearing how confident Haggas is regarding Mukhadram, I will be reversing that FC!! I know most trainers when interviewed, for the most part, exude confidence but it appears he really does think a lot of the beast.
