Firstly, lose some weight and you won't have anyone getting on your tits Secondly, I do think Hill has decent positioning but the whole team was chaos last season. As I admitted, he was definitely second best to Nelson. Also, I think Traore will be good in the NPC. His faults would be less dangerous there and he's quite a big bloke! But I think he's a player who can still learn more about the game and the NPC is a good place to learn about it.
I know, spend £4m and 80k a week on 2 OAP donkeys who are always injured and then have to go out and replace them with an £8m and 60k a week man. I still cant believe we havent learnt our lesson. TF should enforce a Newcastle like position where we dont sign anyone over 27.
Although I would love to have a team with a low average age, I'd still welcome older players while we're in the NPC. With that said, I don't want a team full of them! There has to be a number of oldies low enough to ensure that younger players get themselves established in the team and are ready for the EPL. In my opinion, it's more useful to give a place in the squad to a 34 year old, experienced and better player who can get us up and then leave the club rather than giving a place to a young player who you know is not good enough for the EPL and we'll only sell to a championship team once and if we're promoted. In either case we'd dump the player upon promotion but the older player may have the know how to get us promoted, which I value.
Flyer I think we all have concerns regarding our transfers this summer considering some of the donkeys that we have purchased in recent years. I do however think that you are making one fundamental error in constantly linking age to underperformance. Successive managers have brought players to QPR in the last two years that were well beyond our wildest dreams. The fact that some of these under performed consistently was more down to attitude than age. Bosingwa is a premiership and champions league winning player. He's still potentially a top class player and relatively young in footballing terms. It's his poor attitude that stinks not his ability or age. Hill and Derry have excellent attitudes but they have spent almost their entire careers playing lower division football and the guts of 55-60 odd games a year. Both are still more than capable of making a significant and telling contribution this year. In footballing terms many of the players are still very young men at 30/31/32 yet you dismiss them instantly regardless of experience, talent or attitude. Parker is still one of the top CM in the country and provided he is still up for the fight he has several more years left in him. I want to get rid of the players with a poor attitude like Cisse, Barton, Bosingwa. Not because of their age but because they don't want to play for us. Remember we have Onouha, Traore, Adel, Hoilett and Hogan. All young men. We need a balance in our team. We need players with the right attitude regardless of their age. To consistently dismiss any player linked to us who is over 30 is IMO short sighted and ridiculous. Young players can have a bad attitude too.
Hill may not be the most talent player, his legs are shot but he was still one of the more consistent from the last 2 years, go back and read the reviews just on this site and you'll see he did OK which is massively better than a lot of the team. For a man is his condition he has done well for us and doesn't deserve this rubbish. Getting pretty bored with people constantly slagging off the players which at least went out of the pitch and put in a shift.
Agree with this. Nelsen's experience and quality at CB were one of the few positives last season. Upson or Dunne would both be a similar mould. They've played the vast majority of their careers at the top level. Onouha's pace alongside either of them would work well. With either of them on 1 year contracts, its hardly a risk is it?
With Green Upson and Parker we'd have the spine of the West ham team that went down. All have been or are good players. All try All know each other All can easily do it in the championship Put the 20 year old loaness out wide Onuoha and Upson - CBs Faurlin and Parker - CMs What a team Sell the journeymen premiership bloaters Easy
Forgot to mention - we don't want Carlton Cole in the equation He has never been a good players. He does try He knows each other He cannot do it in the championship
Of course we need a balances team but the balance isnt 50% of 30+ overpaid, injury prone players who have lost it. There isnt a single old player who Id be gutted to see leave, can you name any in our squad that fit that description. The average age of our squad is 28.9 which clearly means experience isnt a problem, we have the oldest squad in the entire PL and FL. We do not need to get any older especially as it will only lead to a higher turnover of players and a squad that will only get worse as it ages. No one though Parks legs had gone until we signed him, how do you know Parker wont be exactly the same? http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/championship/startseite/wettbewerb_GB2.html
I am now putting you in charge of the youth team ... as my assistant I have spoken to you about this before ... young or old you need a team sprit first ... get that age goes out the window
34 only bloody 34 , i wish i was a washed up 34 instead of a worn out and washed up 50.............................................
Hard to get team spirit dave when theres a constant turnover of old players coming in for one last payday, that was the source of all our problems. Say we sign upson, we will need to replace him by the time we go up. I hate to say this but its better to do what Saints did and buy someone like Clyne whos young and could step up to the PL.
I would like to see Onuoha given a chance a centre-half. Given the opportunity to play a number of games in the middle I think we have a decent centre-back there.
