I really believe that Aaron brought something to Hull City that was as valuable as scoring goals. Team spirit. Liked him but he needed to find the net.

Unfortunately we can't just keep hold of him for the sake of team spirit, the lads are all close anyway it's not as if it depends on him.

Not surprised by the news we're willing to give him away as we never stood a chance of getting a fee for him, shame Peterborough went down or else that'd be an obvious club for him to go to.

What exactly do they mean by 'given him a free transfer'?

Does that mean we've got rid of him already and paid him off or have we just announced that he's available on a free to other clubs?

Regardless of where he ends up, I reckon McLean will still be around the club quite a bit whenever he gets the chance.

9 goals in 76 appearances, if he'd scored all those horrific sitter/ open goal misses he'd probably be on 38 out of 76 and look like Van Persie to the stattos.

Interesting to see the link below regarding Norwich looking to bring in Senegal striker.

I took it we'd paid him off. If it means you can have him for free but you have to take his contract on, then that's hardly news. We never would've got a fee for him in a million years.

That's what I'm thinking, this sounds like a bollocks story to me.

Agreed. As it is just red top paper talk i shall wait and see on this one.

How it adds anything to getting Austin is a mystery.

I would have thought that now the Posh are league one again getting Mclean back would be top of the list.
If it happens i wish Aaron all the best. He did his best and does not deserve all the crap he gets from some muppets on here and elsewhere.

Everyone loves a trier. Team spirit is half the issue actually. Something that DQPR lacked totally last season.

I like McLean, not as bad as people made out but just wasn't good enough for a team chasing promotiin into the prem

I expect he thinks himself as a championship striker though, unless Peterborough throw some of that Dwight Gayle money into his wages.

To be honest, I don't think Ive ever heard anyone slag him off. Yes people say he's ****, but he is. That's not slagging him off.

Mcshane used to get terrible abuse, as did Delaney. Much worse than Mclean ever has. Now they were both undeserved.

The Daily Mirror is just pants - they are so poor at this journalism thingy that they should really call it a day.

AM may be surplus to requirements (with the Club preapred to listen to offers for him) but until someone comes in for him, the Club will continue to pay his wages and he will be available for selection.

    Quite simple really.

PS He scored a cracking goal that won us the game to end a sticky patch at Hillsborough but unfortunately for Aaron those moments are too few and far between. As many have posted though he is a top lad.
