Cody got recalled by Coventry it was out of his contractual control. Also previously Norwich were being stubborn and left Cody to rot in the wings, because their demands not the players were to high. Even Peterborough backed out of Norwich's asking price. Look at Coventry financially now! So the Gills and the Posh were clearly the sensible ones. I think every situation with the player has been ruled by the clubs involved as he just seeks to play his football. I could be wrong.

you couldn't blame him going to Coventry even if we could have afforded him. Us fans would probably play for our local club for just enough money to live on, but footballers are mercenaries. He had the chance to probably double his wages and play at a higher level of football. Nothing wrong with that.

I think I am the only person who is not convinced that Cody is what we really need, outside his two spells with us (both in league 2) has scored 11 goals in 67 matches at rate of one goal every 6 appearances I realise that lots of these will be have been as a substitute, but the sort of money being mentioned to sign him is similar to what we spent on Taylor and Asaba who had both scored at a rate of a goal every three matches in the 3rd tier of league football.

Ashford the money Gills would pay for Cody would be nowhere near £500,000 they paid for Asaba. Be surprised if it even reached £100,000.

I believe we are the only interested party in him. Shrewsbury don't have any money and have been turned down by Bayo and someone else(I've forgotten who) and Colchester have the strikers they want. We won't pay much,if at all, so Cov can get him off of their pay roll when they come out of administration.

They want rid and have already offered a crap severance package if I read correctly but the players are holding out for a good settlement. Therefore 50K and take him off your hands should do it
