It will not be played at the ricoh http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/ne...usive-coventry-city-agree-groundshare-4866094 groundshare with Northampton It is a bit of a kick in the balls as I haven't been to the Ricoh yet but have been to the Sixfields Stadium
From a nice shiny stadium back to the tip Sorry that's unfair we can't build our nice shiny stadium on a tip because of a bunch of Nimbys.
How can 7500 capacity be big enough for Coventry and away fans,i bet we will get 600 tickets for our game
Having been to the Ricoh before, yes it looked nice but inside it was poor but think that was mainly down to away support being more than the home support as there is no point having a brand new stadium if you cant even fill half of it (even with away support). Yes the fans will be sad to leave and have to ground share but they will understand that financially the club has to
It is more to do with the ego's of some of the people involved in Coventry City as of yet the Football League has not said they will allow the ground share to happen because the reduced revenue stream from moving away from the Ricoh could mean they will have to repay a number of season ticket holders and this will take them well over the 60% limit and they will have registrations of players withheld until they can get below they level required. Aslo if the owners of the Ricoh then decide to pursue the owners of the golden share for their money CCFC might cease to exist as a football club. If this happens before the start of the season it's hard but not too difficult to sort out however if it happens in say February when some teams will have played Coventry twice then there could be real trouble, can you imagine Team (A) has played Coventry Twice and won both games 3-0 and is 5 points clear at the top of the table teams (B) and (C) have also played Coventry twice and lost their Games 3-0 and 4-0 Coventry's results are expunged from the records Team (A) drops from top to third with a suddenly much worse goal difference than before and fail to get promoted, something similar happened in South America and the court cases went on for years. Finally bankrupting another 2 of the 3 clubs involved and I think the third club ended up out of the league as well.
No, I think 600 is about right as they give the away fans the whole of the stand at one end and it was something like this or maybe a bit more. Went there last time we got promoted for that infamous match on the TV when Bradley got sent off for the row with Louis. We were 1-0 down at half time with 10 men but JMW and mainly Dave Cotterill turned it around into a 3-1 win and Wigan signed the latter for £2m million a couple of days later...
A regrettable state of affairs that I think a lot more clubs are going to face over the next 5 years. The financial aspect of the game has taken a real kicking and a lot more clubs face going to the wall unless the richer clubs are prepared to ante up some of their mega-millions to help save the grass roots of the game. I really fear for what might happen to some clubs and I don't think foreign ownership will ever be the answer because they are quite simply the most probable cause of the game's downward spiral preferring to spend their money on overseas players rather than investing the same money in the country where they play. Solely a personal viewpoint but something has to change, rather like the entire country.
That game turned our season around - Bradley did well to front up for the interview afterwards to apologise
