Seeing as we've been linked with high quality central midfielders and not heard so much on the wings I wonder if Poch intends to move Ramirez out wide? Poch played him there a couple of times last season and signing both Wanyama and Banega would make sense if that was the plan.

I'm also wary of analysing the quotes in too much detail as things can sometimes get lost in translation.

I think he also said something about there "not being enough room" for Banega and Wanyama or Damiao and Osvaldo - maybe still in for a "wide" player? No one asked him about wide players either.

He said there's not enough room for everyone we've been linked to, after talking about the list of 15-20 rumours. I'd think most teams (other than the lot down the road) would struggle to fit 20 new players!

    Heh, fair enough.

I reckon we need 1 cm, 1 striker, 1 winger and that's about it really.

Indeed, forgot about JWP, but it really depends on the future of our midfield shape. If it's a trio, one advanced, two ball winners, then having those numbers works out as we will pick up fatigue/injuries with Morgan and Cork as our only options.

Who knows, it may be a leeeetle high of a number, but I certainly don't think it's too much.

Same. Would like it if the striker was competent wide as well, though it's not essential.

Another CB as well I reckon and perhaps cover for Luke.

Those would be my priorities too, would be happier to have more depth at full-back as well, though with Shaw and Clyne looking like solid first picks that might be difficult to recruit for. Gámez is still on I presume?

Those are good priorities but I won't be complaining about too many midfielders if we managed both Banega and Wanyama..!

Highly doubt we'd get a LB or RB, we have Fox as cover for Shaw and have Chambers as cover for Clyne - Maya can play at RB, too.

Can't see us signing another CB, what with Lovren, Yoshida, Forren, Fonte and Hooiveld currently on the books.

And who would want to sign to play second fiddle behind a soon-to-be 18 year old?

Yeah but unless Shaw seriously improves his fitness we're going to be seeing a lot of Fox, and he has been known to have the odd off-day. With Gámez or someone Clyne could act as cover for Shaw instead. Yoshida's an average right-back at best and who knows how good Chambers really is.

Yeah just to clarify, I'd be ecstatic, I just don't expect it.

We'll never know unless he has a path to first-team appearances. Fox is adequate back up for PL level, you're unlikely to get significantly better to serve merely as backup to a kid.

Did you read what I said about Clyne? I imagine he'd be happy to be backup for Shaw if he was playing in every game anyway. But for that to work we need another right-back. Maybe Chambers is that player but if he isn't (yet) we're stuck with a load of round pegs for a square hole.

Sorry, why would we shift Clyne to the left when we have Fox?

We maybe looking to change our formation to play a 1-2 up front.. and use shaw and clyne as attacking WB's.., Could possibly be why poch seems to want to strengthen other areas.

What about Targett deputising at left back? He's thought of in very high regard. I'm obviously not suggesting he should be a first-team regular, but I don't think it's too unrealistic for him to fill in at left back every now and again when Luke needs a rest.

With him and Fox, as well as Chambers and possibly Cork or Yoshida at RB, I don't think we need another full back. It certainly wouldn't hard us to get one, but I'm not sure it's really necessary.
