I see that on top of spending around £45m on two players, Man City are preparing a bid for £24m-rated Alvaro Negredo (from the BBC, so at least marginally reliable). They are supposed to break even completely by 2015, with the 2013/14 season - as in, the next one - being the marker for punitive measures.

On what planet do Man City fulfill the criteria for FFP, given the numbers above and also given the fact it's unlikely to be the conclusion of their Summer business?

They'll do it by getting a massive amount of money from dubious sponsorship deals.
The whole thing's a waste of time and will only help UEFA's favourite clubs.

I notice that whole "Etihad Stadium" investigation simply went away with a whimper, when it was supposed to be incredibly questionable how a ground with no history could have renaming rights valued above and beyond every other ground in the World.

I don't mind when someone like DHL want to pay Man U gazillions to be on the training kit; that's just crap marketing, not Man U's fault, and the company isn't linked. But the owners of Etihad airways, who are the same people as the owners of Man City, get no punitive measures? They may as well have written a personal cheque and called it an interest free, indefinite loan.

Money talks and Citeh have exploited the rules and the spineless muppets at UEFA are powerless.

The FFP rules were dreamed-up by Platini at the point where English clubs were dominating the Champions League.

It's not happening now (the domination) so expect a long delay in anything actually happening with FFP. <ok>

FIFA has fined controversial agent Mino Raiola, who handles the affairs of stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli, for making offensive comments regarding FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA president Michel Platini.

The Italian had referred to Blatter as as a "demented dictator" and called Platini "a mafia boss," and he also called into question the voting process behind the Ballon d'Or award, claiming that the Swedish striker deserves to have won it.

Accordingly, he has been forced to pay 5,000 Swiss Francs as punishment for the insult and an additional 1,000 for the cost of the disciplinary proceedings.

I wonder how much Blatter and Platini have made out of football since they became heads of the Mafia?
