We'll be back in the Championship this time next year with that kind of scintillating form. Watch out League One because City are on the rampage. Did Sean ask if we could use their stadium in 2 or 3 years, and if I hear anyone say the score was not important I will scream. Sorry I didn't sound very positive but why change the habit of a lifetime? LOL
It is very difficult to judge what the performance was like from the small amount of information we have thus far perhaps someone who went could tell us more did have a text on my phone saying B&AU was like the siege at the Alamo but got no reply when I asked for more info mind you he was heading off to the airport to fly to Miami on holiday after the match so don't expect much sense from him for the next couple of days.
I feel a bit for the keepers on trial. It's quite rare for a keeper to pray for a lot of shots to come their way, but I bet both wanted a bit more action. From what I hear, they did absolutely nothing, apart from catch the odd speculative shot. I'm glad the first team got a bit of a warm-up. I'm also slightly worried that none of our attacking players were able to get a goal. A lot of people tend to state that pre-season matches rarely mean anything, but last season they clearly did as the results matched our form. All in all, it's good that we got the win, and it's good to see the new guys get some minutes together.
This game has 2 important uses: 1. It's a game for players to get some match practice / new people to bed in etc 2. It's part of our community programme to help local sides financialy (and will be done every year) Job done.
Plus one other point City had only just started trying to play in a different style it will take a while for players to get used to playing in a way different 'to lump it up the park every chance you get' Also from what I have read so far this was not treated as a friendly by our opponents there are going to be a few bruises around AG this morning
