This is getting silly. If they play for a french club and could be leaving, we're buying them! Entertaining though.

Skysports.com understands Premier League trio Newcastle, Blackburn and Wigan are tracking French defender Cedric Hengbart.

Hengbart is entering the final year of his contract at Auxerre and is thought to be considering his future at Stade Abbe Deschamps.

The 30-year-old has been a regular in the Auxerre side since arriving from Caen in 2008 and Hengbart is noted as an attacking defender in Ligue 1.

Toulouse are believed to have made a €1.6million offer for Hengbart as they look to bolster their defensive options for next season.

With Hengbart having just one year to run on his contract the player can buy himself out of his contract for as little as £500,000 under the Webster ruling.

The news has alerted Newcastle, Blackburn and Wigan who are all in the market for a new right-back for next season.

    new press motto
if he's French Newcastle are after him (oh yeah with Liverpool not far behind)

Cédric Hengbart (born 13 July 1980 in Falaise, France) is a French footballer. He currently plays for AJ Auxerre as a right back.

Pushing 31, not the kind of player we've been talking about age wise.

I'd hardly say we're "looking for a new right back", at least publicly.

If all is true about his current contract, he's cheap and I wouldn't imagine his wages would be much! ... Could be good cover/short-term replacement for Simpson/his development...

I'd rate this signing as very doubtful though.

Admittly we need someone better then Danny Simpson at right back but this guy is probably not the answer....although it shows how poor the right backs are in the premier league that Sagna was put in the team of the year in that position!!!!

So someone playing in a foreign league will be needed!!

Just because Simpson is suppousedly signing a five year deal why does everyone assume he'll be a first teamer. We might sign a better RB and have him as backup.

This is strange, I signed him on FIFA last night because he was cheap and better than Simpson. In previous years I've signed Martins and Lovenkrands before they were linked with us too. I must be psychic or something. Any requests?
