Expect this to run and run like the Fletcher deal did last year.

I rekon we have went in at 5 then increased it to 6 and they are holding out for 8.

I wouldnt be too bothered paying £8M when you see some of the fees touted for Austin, Ince etc but hopefully we can get him for 7.

Report in the daily snail as say they want 10 million. No way would I pay that for him. We could buy 3 u21's for that..... Spend the 6 million on Mauro Zarate and his wages. miles better in my opnion.

He's never been a great scorer, averaging 1 in 2 in Holland ain't tough, previously he has been nowhere near that.

He's a big lump, and has a pretty poor first touch. If it's £2-3million maybe worth a gamble, £8 million is ridiculous.

The cynic in me sees a ploy to appeal to the huge American commercial market, there is no sense in this move.

Don't know much about the lad. But, spend 4,5,6m these days and it's usually an average player. Shelvey gone to Swansea and he's ****e. Word is5m. DG as we know.

I just don't get it at all mate, he's failed in England once, and he looks, if anything, bigger and therefore less mobile than when he was at Hull.

    Odd.

Last I heard. PDC wants fast attacking players. Huddlestone ( for me) a cart horse and if this bloke is the same then maybe a change of mind. Time will tell..

I'm convinced it's an attempt to break into the American market mate, there is no footballing sense in this.

I've been banging on about this all week. Alot of the posters on here still have high hopes for Wickham after so far doing nothing in a SAFC shirt. Altidore was the same age as him when he made the long trip from New York Red bulls to play for a struggling team in the Prem.
He's since played over 100 games in Europe and improved his game alot. His goal scoring record is spot on, so lets give the lad a chance!

I honestly know eff all about this bloke, but from what I have googled on him, I'd say he isn't worth more than £5m, tops.

It isn't though, a distinctly average striker in Holland for a top team would get 1 in 2.

People use RVP as the exception to the rule, but he didn't play as a CF in Holland, Altidore has failed to score goals in Spain, England & Turkey.

Bit harsh to judge him on what he did as a 19 year old in a very poor Hull side. I think his move to Holland really helped step up his technical ability. I watched him play over the international break and he along with Michael Bradley were by far the two best American players in the 4-5 games they played. Believe he scored 4 goals, but set quite a few chances up when receiving the ball with his back to goal.

He has a better goals to game ratio in Holland, then Lukalu and Benteke had in Belgium, and no one questions their quality.

He went to Spain the following year after Hull so he was still a young lad in a strange country. I'm not saying he's going to be a master stroke of a signing, just think he's been unfairly criticised.
I bet Dempsey wasn't much good at 19 either
