With Arsenalâs failure to once again dominate the Premier League and win it, they must go through the audacious task of the qualifying play-off round. Fortunately they will escape playing a team who won their domestic titles with the way the round is split, so will avoid playing Rangers, FC Copenhagen and Dinamo Zagreb. They will however, after finishing fourth in the Premier League, face the theoretical possibility of playing Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich who also finished third in their league (though very very unlikely because of the seeding), this is how it pans out for the section of 10 teams they are likely to face, The five winners from the non-champion section of the Third Qualifying Round (Standard Liege, Benfica, Dynamo Kyiv, Twente and Panathinaikos are seeded in that section) ⢠The fourth placed team from Spain (Villarreal) ⢠The fourth placed team from Italy (Udinese) ⢠The third placed team from Germany (Bayern Munich) ⢠The third placed team from France (Lyon) After that the ten clubs who are confirmed, the five with the highest UEFA coefficients are seeded, and those with the lowest coefficients will play the seeded teams, Arsenals coefficient is bettered by only by German Giants Bayern Munich of the potential teams from the play-off round, so Wengerâs team will definitely be seeded. As it stands if the seeded teams are Arsenal, Bayern, Lyon, Benfica and Villareal, it would mean that either Dynamo Kyiv, Udinese, Panathinaikos, Twente Eshende or Standard Liege would be Arsenalâs potential opponents. http://www.footylatest.com/arsenal-get-indication-of-champions-league-qualification-opponents/22420 Full qualification looks simplez!
I would be worried about Dynamo Kiev, Udinese and (to a lesser extent) Panathinaikos. All are quite far away, all are good (especially Kiev seem to do well against big teams) and all play well at home.
Nasri (van persie) has a point, say what you like about us not being good enough to win trophies but this arsenal team are exceptional at qualifying for the champions league. Besides we are always at our best during the start of the season.
Udinese are likely to lose there best players in the summer. Plus the Italian league starts later than the PL. Could be a nice tie. Twente or Liege would be nice, short trips across the Channel. We may even have a Liege player by the time the CL kicks off if the Axel Witsel rumours are true. Kiev would be the tricky tie. Isn't their season in full flow in August? They should be well prepared. Obviously Kiev is not as daunting as it would be in the winter, but still a long journey at the beginning of the season would be nice to avoid. Greece could be a problem, the weather will not be good for football and Pana are a decent side with great support.
