http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Humber-Street-Sesh-festival-doubt/story-19453012-detail/story.html THE future of a Hull festival hangs in the balance as organisers struggle to secure enough funding. Humber Street Sesh, which last year attracted more than 15,000 people, is set to take place on Saturday, August 3. And although supporters of the grassroots music scene in Hull are digging deep, volunteers say they are still far away from their target... Would be a massive shame if this didn't go ahead and hardly a great advert for a prospective city of culture.
That was one of my main reasons for coming early this year! If they cancel it I will be well pissed off!
If they're serious about this Capital of Culture, the council won't let this happen and will ensure it keeps going
I Live in. Hull, I don't live on a council estate, not that there's anything wrong with that, hence you must be talking ****
It's the council that are currently causing most of the problems with their excessive rules and regulations.
"Last year we did it on £18,000 but this year it's going to cost us at least £45,000 due to health and safety regulations and security alone is costing nearly £10,000." They've already raised £7k more than last year and as far as I was aware, there weren't any issues last year, so I can't see why it's now not allowed to go ahead.
mind you, having said that, Glasgow is more of a concrete-council monstrosity than Ull (and they won it) so you never know
I would leave that foresaken treasure island as soon as I could! I'd leave it to the old folks like OLM and Chazz and all the other Little Britoners.
John Meehan ‏@MeehanMedia Great to hear organiser @maks33onions stressing to @bbcburnsy that @HumberStSesh will go ahead, with 160 bands on 10 stages. Amazing event.
