Some one like J.E.T. for example would be a 'marque' signing for L1 in fact almost any regular Championship player who played on a regular basis last season or Premiership player who played 20 or so games last season could be classed as a 'Marque' player in L1 I'm just hoping that there is someone of that type in the background waiting to be signed by the club. The reasoning is simple the club needs to increase it's revenue flow quickest way to do that is to find someone whose signing would cause a stir amongst fans boosting sales of ST's and Shirts, we know we are not going to be signing Messi or Ronaldo but there are bound to be some players that could be fitted into our team and wage structure who could give that sort of boost at this lower level just I'm damned if I can work out who but I trust our management team to come up with something or someone.
I'll go with 8680. Off to Henley regatta now, busy week of sport ahead, the regatta, Lions, Wimbledon and four days at the test match next week. Can't see how I ever managed to fit in working as well. Must also find time for a round of golf!
City overwhelmed by positive response. City are pleased to announce over 7,000 season tickets have already been snapped up ahead of the new season. The club have been overwhelmed by the positive response of supporters in the wake of relegation from the Championship, with fans clearly stating their intent to get behind a more successful 2013/14 campaign. Head coach Sean O’Driscoll said: “People often speak about Bristol City as a big club and to sell 7,000 season tickets on the back of relegation probably proves that. “At this time of year there’s optimism at every football club up and down the country. “We’re just trying to be consistent in our methods and approach. We’re never going to get everything right, we know that, but this is an opportunity for the club to move forwards. “It might be little steps to start with, but we’ve recognised mistakes we’ve made in the past, looked to rectify them and try not to repeat them. “The proof will come when the season starts but there’s a general will from everybody at the club and also the fans I meet to ensure this city has a football club to be proud of.” Managing director Jon Lansdown echoed O’Driscoll’s sentiments: “The support we’ve had in terms of season ticket sales has been tremendous. “We went on sale a lot later this year, but to have in excess of 7,000 fans committed for the season ahead at this stage is a terrific boost for everyone associated with the club. “It was difficult to know what to expect, but we’ve always had that good core of support and they’ve responded in kind. We still have a month to go before the start of the season so hopefully those numbers will continue to increase.” Season tickets are now back on general sale, with some prime seats in the Dolman Stand and Atyeo Stand still available
