    Barton back at QPR

by Jon Rogers and Patrick Jennings

    1st July 2013 4:08pm BST

    Exclusive

Controversial midfielder Joey Barton is back training with the west London side.

The 30-year-old had been on a season-long loan to Ligue 1 side Marseille after something of a turbulent time at the west London club since he joined the Hoops in August 2011.

A spokesman for the club confirmed to SportsDirect News that Barton was back with squad and had started pre-season training which began on Monday.

Barton currently has two years left on his contract.

The former Newcastle and Manchester City player had previously stated his desire to stay in France, but cannot move unless Rangers pay up part of his contract.

He was sent out on loan after being banned at the start of the season following his dismissal at the Etihad Stadium on the final day of the 2011-12 season.

It was initially believed that Marseille offered Barton a deal to stay but could not match his salary expectations but SDN sources in France indicated that no deal had been offered by the French side.

QPR star Barton fails to return for pre-season training

QPR midfielder Joey Barton failed to return to the club for pre-season training this week.

The 30-year-old – who spent the weekend at the Glastonbury Festival - was absent when the rest of his team-mates reported to Harlington on Monday morning.

Barton spent last season on loan with Ligue 1 side Marseille, and has made it clear that he wishes to remain at the Stade Velodrome rather than return to Loftus Road.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp admitted he is resigned to losing the former Newcastle United star, but the two clubs have failed to reach a settlement on his £70,000-per-week contract.

    QPR declined to comment.

NO! He CAN move, there is nothing stopping him (except pure greed), but he chooses not to.

It is not as if he will be paid £300 p/w (+ overtime and Christmas bonus).

Christ on a bike, it took TWO people to write that ****!

God I'd love it if Tone & co played hardball and really tested Joey's resolve if he's true to his word/tweet.

If he didn't turn up and had no permission from the club (his employer) to be absent then has he not broken the terms of his contract and the employer can instigate disciplinary proceedings against him?

Best thing that he can do is buy out his contract and then he is free to go where ever he pleases......what shall we take....a quid?

Another one I'm hoping will f*** off VERY soon. If his talent was as big as he ego then he would be world class.
Talks bollox about money meaning nothing then turns down his 'dream move' to OM 'cos his wages will get cut.

Joey...you talk out of your a*** and the sooner you f*** off to infect another club the better.

(As you all might tell from my last couple of posts I'm in a right strop today :( )

    Finally..........

You can do a pre-season anywhere as long as you have got a pair of decent trainers, some hills and drive inside to get fitter...

Most likely he has been told not to come back, as negotiations for his release are underway and he won't be playing for us again. Same for Samba and Boswinga, didn't see them in the pics either.
