It seems that things have gone a bit quiet regarding who the new coach will be.

Does anyone have any news or is it just a case of waiting for Hiddink to play his upcoming games with Turkey before he´s announced ?

I read that he's willing to listen to a concrete offer from us, and it seems the most likely option.

I'd be more than happy to be honest<ok>

To be honest I´d be fairly happy to bring back Hiddink. In an ideal world I´d love to see us bring back Andre Villas-Boas but I can´t see it happening.

At least with Hiddink we know what we´re getting and he wouldn´t need a bedding in period.

I´m thinking we´re going to get an announcement just as soon as Turkey´s next game is over which is in the next couple of days I beleive.

I can see Hiddink joining you guys, but only for a couple of years. He said earlier this season he thought he might be too old to start another big club role, so if he joined it might only be another favour to Abramovich to pave the way for a longer term successor. Then again, two years is quite a long stay compared to some of your recent coaches.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. I could see 1-2 years at us and then maybe a guardiola / boas type appointment. i.e someone young but with a record for attractive winning football. Hiddink at his age surely can't be the long term plan especially given he has barely been in club football for the last few years.

Have to say it's looking more and more like it's Hiddink.

I hope we take a new direction and go with Dechamps as a long term option, his sides play attractive football, something we should be striving for.

And Hiddink didn't play nice football?

I appreciate he's old, but we need stability to develop the team and he is our best shot at that given his relationship with RA.

He also doesn't want to stop, and evidently has the stones to do the job.

    Rant over.

I think Hiddink will join us for one or two seasons.
He will keep shop until the Special One wins the Title and Champs Lge with Real (which will take 2 seasons at most).
Then the Special One will return home where he belongs and take us to further greatness.

Is Hiddinks Euro qualifier on saturday? If so who are they against and what are the odds that Turkey will lose that game? I do hope Guus comes, Mark Hughes is making a push for it, hope he doesn't come!

    It's playing now.
Halftime Belgium 1 Turkey 1. All to play for. Should Belgium win then it's pretty much all over for Turkey and Guus will be with us by early next week.

    That may well be true.
But, they'll probably go with a shiny medal in their pocket.
I'd prefer that to someone staying for an eternity and winning **** all for years and just getting old.

I didn't say Hiddink does not play "nice football" but we really need someone for the long term, although he did a good job in the limited time he was here before, his age is against him. I read lots of posts about how there is no continuity at the club and this is something we need, well Hiddink won't provide that he'll be just another fill in.
